CHAPTER 1 Things to Change in Prayer
Introduction prayer
Counsel from God
Psalms 107:19-21 (NLT) Lord, help!’ they cried in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He sent out His word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death. Let them praise the Lord for His great love and for the wonderful things He has done for them.
Lord, we cry out for Your help, for Your good counsel through appointed and anointed leaders who give advice and understanding through Your wisdom and knowledge from Christ Jesus. We seek tidings of comfort and joy in our hearts from Your power and authority, Lord, over the enemy. Matt.10:40-41 is where Jesus, You speak to us who seek counseling saying, Anyone who receives us receives You, and anyone who receives You receives the Father who sent You. If we receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, we will be given the same reward as a prophet. And if we receive righteous people because of their righteousness, we will be given a reward like theirs!
Lord, we are students of Your word, knowing that every word of God is good counsel, wisdom and knowledge to direct the path of our righteousness. Your word says in this 10th chapter of The Gospel of Matthew that we should not be afraid of those who have become a threat to us mentally and physically. You explain that You, Lord, will eventually reveal the hands of the enemy, all the power that is out to steal, kill, and destroy the victory in our lives. Lord, You declare to us that the enemy cannot touch our soul, so don’t allow fear to trouble our body and our souls. God, You let us now that You are our Creator, the Only One who can destroy the body and soul in hell fire. We give honor and praise to You, Lord, for leading us in the path of righteousness, giving us comfort in knowing that we first, have to acknowledge You publicly on earth as our Lord and Savior so You can acknowledge us as Your children to Father God in heaven. If we deny You like Peter did 3 times, then You cannot accept us in Heaven until we repent. This chapter in Matthews tells us that you seek to find out if You are our first love, over our spouse, our parents, and our children. We are obligated to take up our cross daily and to walk by faith in the will of God in order to find our godly life with You, Christ Jesus. We must let the world know of Your goodness, Your power, Your love! We should have private prayer time so what You, Our Savior, tells us in the dark can be revealed openly as the Light in us. Let us see how You Lord counsels us in the time of trouble through our prayers, our praises, and our prophetic voices.
First, You instruct us to pray without ceasing. Lord, we touch and agree with our prayer partner and our pastor for Your will to be done in our lives. Lord, you have agreed to answer us since the effectual fervent prayers of the righteous avails much! Our Father God, who art in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Jesus Christ! Lord we pray for Your kingdom be done on earth as it is in heaven, full of angels helping the righteous in prayer and intercession. Prov.5:21-22 tells us that You, Lord, can see our inner man, our heart. For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examining every path he takes. An evil man is held captive by his own sins…
God gives us an example of prayer that changes things. Ezek. 37:11-12 shows us how God will restore the evil and the righteous with His strength and power. Then He said to me, ‘Son of man, these bones represent the people of Israel. They are saying, ‘We have become old, dry bones-all hope is gone…’This is what the Sovereign Lord says: O my people. I will open your graves of exile and cause you to rise again…When this happens, O my people, you will know that I am the Lord. I will put My Spirit in you, and you will live again…
We thank You Lord for answering our prayers. You sent Your word through Prophet Ezekiel and it heals the Israelites daily. We see Your Spoken words in the Gospel of Matthew 10:7-8 these same words. Jesus tells His 12 disciples to go to the people of Israel with these instructions: …Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!
Let the words spoken by our Savior save, heal, and deliver! Matt.9:6 Jesus says, So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.
We pray daily for the lost, we show mercy for those who know they are sinners.
Secondly, we praise You, Father God, in the name of Jesus Christ. We can call on You, God as Our Jehovah, The Eternal One. We use 6 other Jehovah names to bless You, God when we call out to You, Jehovah-Jireh, Jehovah-Nissi, Jehovah-Rapha, Jehovah-Shalom, Jehovah-Shammah, and Jehovah-Tsidkenu. Apostle James says in James 1:21 that once we seek counsel, we should understand that we must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. So we have to get rid of all filth and evil in our lives, and humbly accept the word Lord God, that You plant in our hearts, for it has the power to save our souls!
God, You instructs us through counsel to take Your word and let it dwell in us. We are instructed to do what it says, getting rid of things ungodly in our lives. James 1:22 says, Don’t just listen to God’s word. We must do what it says. Otherwise, we are fooling ourselves
, asking God for good counsel! We know that the word gives us life and Your life as Christ gives us light. Let the counsel on every situation begin and end with the everlasting word of God. Jesus, You teach us that You are the way, the truth, and the life. For the Son of man is come to see and to save that which was lost.
(Luke 19:10) Let us give You, Lord, the praise for salvation, healing, and deliverance. The gospel of Luke gives an example of people giving God the praise. Luke 19:37-38 tells how, You, Jesus entered Bethany on the Mount of Olives with Your followers shouting and singing praises to God for all the wonderful miracles performed. They shouted, Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest heaven!
King David recorded many praises to Father God for his salvation, his healings, and his deliverance from the snares of the enemy in war and peace. Psalms 34:1-2 says, I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth! My soul shall make her boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it, and be glad.
Lastly, let our words be for exaltation of God and encouragement to each other. Lord, we know Psalms 27:1 will lift burdens when we meditate on Your word, The Lord is our light and our salvation; whom shall we fear? The Lord is the strength of our lives; of whom shall we be afraid?
Lord, You have given us the power over all the power of the enemy to cast out evil spirits that come against us. Lord, You are our doctor in the sick room, our lawyer in the courtroom, and our Savior in the fellowship room. Your grace and truth defends us and protects us physically, emotionally, mentally, and financially. You instruct us to deny ourselves because it will not profit us to gain the whole world and lose our souls. Therefore, we are not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation. We speak Your word into our lives as well as the lives of others saying, There is , therefore, now no condemnation to us who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
(Romans 8:1) We now that good counsel will speak life into the empty and weak places in our mind and soul to make us whole, confident that we are above and not beneath trials and tribulations. Only You, Lord, know what we should pray for. Thank You Father God for using Your prophet, Your counselor to intercede along with the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:27 says, And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.
So, Lord we worship you and give You all the praise and all the glory as You have a purpose for this time and this season of change, of counsel. You tell us that in the mouth of two to three witnesses every word will be established, prayer, praise, and prophecy in our lives. We are blessed to have You as our Father, to give us Your wisdom, Your plan that was previously hidden but You will reveal what You have prepared for us who love You. We thank and praise Your name, Christ Jesus, taking joy for the pains and persecutions of this present time. We take pleasure in knowing good counsel will reveal God’s grace as we encourage ourselves saying,
God’s grace is sufficient for us; for Your strength is made perfect in our weaknesses." Amen.
Abomination
What is wickedness in your heart in the sight of God? An offense or abomination is something loathsome, horrible, and detestable. Prayer to remove the abomination in your life is a prayer to please God and to destroy what you highly value as great in your life. An abomination may be a stronghold, something that appears pleasing but is displeasing to God. Things should not stop you from serving God, such as going to a ballgame instead of worship service. Believers with habits or possessions causing you to put more value on them than on loving God need to pray for deliverance. Luke16:15 NKJV reads, And He said to them, ‘You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. You will know something is wrong in your life when you begin to pray for revelation knowledge. Also, once you begin to cast down things in your life contrary to the word of God, He will intercede. There is no failure in God. Prov.8:7 KJV tells you how an abomination can be what you speak falsely, a lie.
For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. Pray to be delivered from lying, vain babblings that will increase into more ungodliness. In 2Tim.3:1-7 KJV you see abominations listed that are happening to believers who become lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God: despisers of good, boasters, traitors, false accusers, high-minded lovers of themselves, unholy without affection. Verse 5 says,
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away. Pray for God’s word to be hid in your heart that you may not sin against God. Pray that the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be acceptable in the Lord’s sight, your strength and Redeemer. Pray for others and yourself to flee from wickedness and follow after righteousness, faith, godliness, love, joy, peace, patience, meekness, and self control. Speak over yourself,
The devil is a liar!"
Adversary
The devil, Satan himself, is the foe, the opponent who attacks believers’ hearts with animosity. The devil comes to you to steal, to kill, and to destroy. The Lord asked Satan in Job 1:6 where did he come from and he answered that he has been wandering throughout the earth. The Adversary is Satan, who rules the powers of darkness, spiritual wickedness in high places. The book of Job tells how God gave Satan power to destroy Job’s body and possessions, but blessed Job later, returning double family and possessions back to Job. God leads you in the path of love while the devil leads you into a life of evil for eternal fire. The Book of Psalm has many prayers you can pray when the enemy, Satan, attacks your heart, your mind, or your soul. Psalm 1:1 NIV says, Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on His law day and night.
Jesus teaches you to deny yourself and take up your cross daily and follow Him. Jesus tells you that humans cannot live spiritually only by prayer or the presence of God, but you need every word in your heart that comes from the mouth of the Lord, Jesus Christ.(Matt.4:4) Jesus instructs you to call Him Lord and Master and do the things He has done. Pray daily to be delivered from evil. Pray daily for your enemies to be delivered from the snares of the devil. Matt.5:44 NIV Jesus says, But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for who persecute you.
He also says to settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court to stop imprisonment. God has given you power over all the power of the enemy! Thanks to God for strength in the Lord and the power of His might. You can put on the whole armor of God to stand against the wiles of the devil. Eph.6:12 GNB says, For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of the dark age.
The Lord says to pray without ceasing using the belt of truth, having the breastplate of righteousness, shoes with the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God, and the helmet of salvation! You will stand when all others fail, in Jesus name, Amen!
Ailments
Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivers you out of them all.
Let is define ailments as sicknesses and afflictions that are manifested in the body, the flesh of people. Are you living in a state of distress, pain, and or suffering? Stress is in the flesh!
If you answer Yes, then you are able to believe God as a healer. All things are possible if you only believe! Ailments are tests of your faith, your trust in God. God lets you know it
