    Introduction

By now you all must have seen countless videos, and have read hundreds of books on diet, fitness and weight loss. Some videos promote health before weight loss and some claim that both are the same thing. Some say that you do not have to stress so much about weight loss because self-care and accepting your own body is more important than following some size-based body image. The more you see, the more you read, the more you are going to get confused. There are no perfect videos or books that answer all your questions.

On my weight loss journey, I constantly followed whatever I saw and read. Some videos were incredible while some made me wonder how I will survive if I eat only this much. I remember one particular video, which was followed by a celebrity, where they only had one banana and a glass of protein powder in water three times a day, every day. I got hungry only by watching that video. If I had to follow that, I would die of hunger and panic attacks. Wait! Is there a word for that? I guess we can call it a hangry attack as we have not created any word for that. See, we do not even have a word for that.

I like watching diet videos. I watch it for motivation but I am also happy to see people actually losing weight and getting healthy. When you want to lose weight, these stories become your hope. I imagined I will be this thin by the beginning of next year. I was always hopeful and inspired but the next year never came. The beginning of every year was a new beginning, I planned to eat healthily and exercise.

I also registered for the gym one time and decided to eat healthy once I started the gym. The night before my first gym day, I thought binge eating the pantry was a good idea and it would help me stay on my health goals. But when I was done eating all the unhealthy food in the pantry, I felt immense guilt and cried all night. The next day I was too tired and guilty to follow through on my commitments so I neither went to the gym nor did I eat anything healthy.

This was repeated every year for me. No matter how much I decided to get healthy and eat right, I was unable to stick to it. We all have done the same thing many times. No matter how many times we read the words fit, diet and health, we lack consistency and we will never be consistent if we only follow what someone else is following. I learned this the hard way. I followed the diet videos and got bored after one month. I also ate similar meals that an Instagram fitness influencer suggested but I was not consistent.

My nan used to say, You are not fat, girl! You are just big-boned. It sounds so funny now, but then it gave me confidence. Just knowing that I am not responsible for my bone structure made me happy. This also meant that I continued filling my body with all kinds of unhealthy food. Like everyone, there came a day when I realized, my body weight is not only the bone weight. It is the combination of muscle weight and fat. Filling my body every day with all kinds of unhealthy food, I have accumulated more fat than muscle in my body. It was not too late for me and I started exploring the world of diet foods. The unhealthy world of diet foods, if I have to be precise.

The first time I decided to go on a diet, I researched everything. I was just in high school then and I was tired of hearing the fat
