Hi! I’m Jo. I write character-driven steamy romance. My stories tend to come in serials because I love complications. I find nothing’s spicier than characters taking a life of their own.So prepare for adventurous scenarios, very sophisticated friendships, dangerous games, power plays, leading ladies, sexy tricksters, and handsome princes in distress. I like dark alpha males as well as vulnerable cuties. And my female characters tend to come with a rebel streak or a temper. Sue me.You can read stories out of order if you’re just here for a one-night stand. Or you can climb in for the entire ride, thrills, emotions and all. That’s up to you.Firsts in series will generally be free. When a story arc is done, bundles will ensue, and they will read like novels, with a Happily Ever After, or at least a Happy For Now. Stay tuned!

This story is part of an erotic romance series, so it is loaded with adult content, sexy scenes, crude words, and even the occasional swear word. Be advised that it may come with weird side effects such as panties melting, hot daydreaming or, I don’t know, the occasional stiffy. If all of this is upsetting to you, you don’t have to read it. Also be advised that, while consent is exchanged, some of the characters’ fantasies might run somewhat on the dark side.

I took my travel bag out of the boot and squinted at the clear summer sky. Everywhere around, oak and birch trees grew tall. The air was full of singing birds, zooming insects and the smell of freshly cut grass. People were parking their cars all around us on the big lawn by the road and taking out their bags before rushing to the dressing rooms. I surveyed the chaos, a big, goofy grin on my face.

The party was going to be phenomenal.

Most of the guests were already half dressed in period costumes. Victorian Gothic garb, to be precise. Some of the women were wandering around basically in their underwear—drawers and chemise and corsets—without the hoopskirts, petticoats and dress skirts they were going to don later. Their hair wasn’t done. Any Victorian seeing all this would have a fit. Cell phones and headsets were still on. They would have to disappear later as per the party rules. The organizers were going for comfortable plausibility. We wouldn’t be wearing real corsets, because we weren’t insane, and no one was planning on bearing stockings on a night where the temps would probably stay in the low eighties. But it was going to look and feel like a Victorian ball. We’d even rehearsed the dances. I found polka fun but really sucked at anything beyond waltz. I was deeply thankful I wouldn’t be the one leading.

So, Adrian said, our room should be somewhere over there.

He indicated windows on the east wing of the handsome old building. Like all American gothic Victorian mansions, it was tall and pointy with wisteria escalating the gray stone façade and tall windows up to the heavily decorated last floors. It was huge and gorgeous, and we’d even be sleeping there, which wasn’t the case for most of the very numerous guests to the period party.

I followed Adrian to the grand entrance decorated with chandeliers and pink flowers and up the
