It was two days after our last conversation, after we’d resumed our twisted game. We’d met after work, in a bar. I’d ordered something strong, after much debate with myself. Did I really want to lower my inhibitions for the type of conversation we were going to have? Yeah. I needed some liquid courage.

I mean, sure, Alex and I had always discussed all kinds of things, love and sex were two of them. But this was new. It was taboo territory. After crossing the line once in September with Theo, we were venturing outside our well-mapped friendship zone once again. We’d just gotten better at pretending that everything was fine and normal.

Why me first? Alex protested.
