While Ivars was telling his polar bear joke to our table’s general hilarity, I was watching the game of pool that my friend Adrian was playing near the bar. I saw the woman chalk the pool cue and then slowly strut by the table with her eyes glued to him. She had very straight blond hair that shone in the dim light, and a nice, somewhat mocking smile that Adrian would no doubt find very enticing. In the process of going around the pool table, she managed to caress her cue stick in a gesture so suggestive there was absolutely no question she was thinking about an entirely different shaft while doing it.
