About this ebook

You were so perfect for me.

When alarming reports arrive from everywhere that their world is breaking apart, Chloe, Adam and Sean vow they'll get through this together. But sometimes, even love that feels like the Real Thing can't solve all the problems.

Warning: this is a sweet and spicy parting story. We're at that point in a romance arc where things go awry before they can get better again. So, there's not going to be a Happy For Now at the end of this story. For that, you'll need to read right through to episode 15.

Silk & Gravel is a serial, character-driven and very steamy menage romance featuring three college flatmates, two men and a woman.

Hi! I’m Jo. I write character-driven steamy romance. My stories tend to come in serials because I love complications. I find nothing’s spicier than characters taking a life of their own.So prepare for adventurous scenarios, very sophisticated friendships, dangerous games, power plays, leading ladies, sexy tricksters, and handsome princes in distress. I like dark alpha males as well as vulnerable cuties. And my female characters tend to come with a rebel streak or a temper. Sue me.You can read stories out of order if you’re just here for a one-night stand. Or you can climb in for the entire ride, thrills, emotions and all. That’s up to you.Firsts in series will generally be free. When a story arc is done, bundles will ensue, and they will read like novels, with a Happily Ever After, or at least a Happy For Now. Stay tuned!

This story is part of an erotic romance series, so it is loaded with adult content, sexy scenes, crude words, and even the occasional swear word. If all of this is upsetting to you, you don’t have to read it. All characters involved in any adult scene in this work of fiction are far over 18 and even when things get twisty, consent is exchanged.

    Breaking Point

Climbing up the stairs that led to our apartment, I hummed giddily to myself, the heavy weight of my science books beating against my hip. If I strained my ear I could also hear the faintest metallic rattle coming from the jewel box I’d carefully, lovingly stuck between Advanced Differential Equations and a lengthy paper about how the Milky Way had eaten a dozen smaller star systems and galaxies—to me, a fascinating read.

Waiting to give Sean his present was going to be excruciatingly hard. I’d just swung by Etta’s, that tiny specialty shop that made all his naughty toys, to pick it up before running home for pizza night. That gift had set Adam and me back a few bucks, but it was worth it. We were going to give it to Sean on Saturday night. We had a whole epic evening planned out. We were going to take advantage of the fact that Allie was going to be at Mina’s for the weekend.

Allie had been seeing a good therapist, recommended by my own, and although she had a long ways to go, just starting to talk to someone had been a huge improvement. She was young, resourceful, resilient. She would be okay in the end.

Lately she’d even been fine staying alone a little longer, so that we had resumed our lives, studies, and work schedules as best we could. After talking with her, Sean had made up a temporary homeschooling program, just for the weeks to come, but he’d also signed her up for some singing, acting and dancing classes so that she wouldn’t stay alone at home too much. Her friend Mina had visited again and there had been talk of holidays together, even though none of the legal issues we had were cleared.

Spring was really coming now, and spring break was just around the corner, starting at the end of this week. And unless you counted that weird impression I’d been having, that someone was following me around, everything was fine. I’d just written up the feeling to phantom stress and anxiety. We’d been so busy, so far out of our comfort zone, and were still going through a lot.

Sean and Adam had met the lawyer the previous week. He was just as evil as we’d hoped. It was obvious that he hated Philip Crest and everything he represented—and that’s why he’d accepted to help. Sean and Allie had decided they just wanted a fresh new start for themselves, with a clean break from their family. Sean had filed for guardianship two days before. We still hadn’t heard from the Crests but we were gearing up for legal battle and gathering all we had
