Step #1 The motivation system
Identifying motivational issues and solutions
Why do some people fall of the wagon? How do we stay on it? Why do some people seem to have all the motivation in the world, and some can’t make two days in a row?
In this section we will discuss some of the methods used to stay on track and sources we use to remain motivated.
But first we need to understand what moves us into action.
The holy grail of momentum
Think of a cycle if you would with four boxes arranged in a circle.
The first box is labeled potential and that is where we need to understand our own self potential. Now most people have a belief about what their potential is no matter what anyone tells them, and we believe that stems from our past experience. We are not crazy, we just use our basic survival instincts and avoid what we believe won’t work for us. In following the cycle, a small amount of belief leads to a small amount of action right? If you told me that you did not have the potential to lose 50 lbs, or you didn’t have the potential to gain the amount of muscle that you wanted, I would expect you to take very little action.
And of course when we take little action we get what? That’s right, little results. Now the problem is that when we get little results, we reinforce our belief that we have little potential. And as the cycle goes around and around it creates an even weaker belief in ourselves, and it creates an even weaker belief in our potential. So you can see why people can’t make an impactful and lasting change in their life. It is self-destructive.
How do i break the cycle? 5 steps
First recognize the cycle.
Recognize the pattern, and understand that you can not only break that cycle, but you can turn it around and make it work for you. If we can begin to create a belief in our self, it will also create a stronger vision of our potential. As we have as strong vision of our potential, it will lead to a more compelling action being taken. As a result of all of that, the result itself is much bigger and that leads back to the believe component of the cycle.
We can make this work for us not against us!
2. Secondly, to make the change you need to
