Part 1 – The Birth of this Diet
Chapter 1: Let’s Start
Tired? Frustrated? Ashamed? I have a secret stash of diet books, magazines, pills… I want to eat a lot of nice food and still be thin. I am jealous of my waif sister, my friends, my colleagues...
Sound familiar? Now is the time to change all these…
The Going 30 Diet is the birth of this journal from the frustration I had that I was still struggling with my body while approaching the big 30. It is written to provide insights and to inspire you; not to follow the journal but to create your own story and your own success that you can achieve regardless of your age, culture and race and how you can end your yo-yo syndromes, your frustrations and to take back your life. The ultimate aim of this book is to help you integrate the diet into your lifestyle and sustain it. That’s the first step to success.
Chapter 2: My Story
I am a normal Asian working adult, facing stress in work, financial and family problems. I love to eat and live in a country where food is available in abundance. I am 29 this year and just a few months ago, I was once again angry and frustrated with myself for letting my weight controlling my life.
I started dieting when I was 16. I was a naturally slim person but tend to eat a lot and when I was studying for exam or stressed up, I ate even more. It didn’t help that I was sensitive in nature and got upset easily. The weight gain was not significant when I was in my teens as my exercise output still managed to outweigh my intake.
Eventually, when I was 20, I was over 70 kg (I couldn’t bear to see the weighing scale). I could eat a whole packet of Lays, a whole roasted chicken and 1.5l coke in 1 sitting! Then, I would go to exercise for 1 or 2 hours hoping it would offset the calories and the guiltiness. And not every time worked as I was too bloated and rather watched videos or sleep then I would get angry with myself. I was trapped in a viscous cycle – losing and gaining again.
Now at age of 29, I am not so heavy (most probably due to less stress and a job that requires me to walk around) but still yo-yoing between 63 to 68kg and my eating habits still suck.
