Shannon Dianna
Shannon is a typical millennial, a wannabe wine sommelier, and a Peloton groupie. She is a Midwesterner, an ex-college athlete, and speaks two languages (English and Sarcasm). She understands first-hand the struggle with losing weight, and has developed the tools to not only lose weight, but to also find happiness within herself. She is here to share her story, so listen the hell up. In her debut as a writer, Shannon uses her experiences with weight fluctuation to reflect on the harsh realities that come with diet culture, body insecurities and growing up in a world obsessed with what we look like.

Preface: Here’s the Thing...I Am Not an Expert
Let’s get one thing straight—I am by no means an expert. Not in health and fitness, and certainly not in life. I do not have a medical degree (although I was a jewelry design major for a semester and I think that counts for something). I do not have any certifications in nutrition (what do all of those acronyms mean anyway?). I am not a personal trainer, lifestyle coach, or self-proclaimed influencer
. I am an average, 27-year-old, white female living in the Midwest who teaches middle school, moonlights as a writer, and has less than 500 followers on Instagram.
But you know what I do have? Real. World. Experience.
I have tried every diet there is. I have said, I’ll start tomorrow
more times than you can count. I have cried over the way I’ve looked and avoided mirrors at all costs. I have seen specialists. I have paid an obscene amount online for diet and fitness apps. I have bought that bullshit fit tummy
tea off of Facebook, which may as well be marketed as a laxative. I have bought pills on Amazon that claim to help you lose weight in two weeks. I even went as far as trying a coffee enema after an Instagram model told me it would cleanse my system
. Yes, you read that correctly. Breaking news! None of these gimmicks worked because I was being lazy, and trying to find a shortcut where none existed. But here’s the thing…there is no shortcut. There is no fast lane. There is no secret formula. Do you want to lose weight? Stop eating like shit, and exercise. I repeat, stop eating like shit, and exercise.
This is not a quick-fix
guide to nutrition. This book will not tell you what to eat for 30 days, and then leave you high and dry. This book is also not going to be on Oprah’s Book Club list. This book does not contain earth-shattering
