Call Of The Loon - Heather Beck

Camp Loon! Lorelei Rove shrieked in disbelief as she read the brochure her parents had given her. Is this some sort of sick joke? She re-read it, just to make sure she hadn’t imagined the whole thing. Lorelei sighed as she realized the brochure still advertised Camp Loon and all its dorky activities.

Don’t be so pessimistic, Mr. Rove said, ignoring Lorelei’s question. You’ll have a lot of fun.

You would be bored by yourself, Mr. Rove finally said.

You’ll love Camp Loon once you get there, Mrs. Rove chimed in.

How long will you be gone for? Lorelei demanded.

    Four weeks, Mr. Rove admitted.

Four weeks? Lorelei repeated. We’ve never taken a vacation that was longer than two weeks!

We know it sounds like a long time, Mr. Rove said. "But this trip is really special to your mother
