Savanna Town & Rhonda's Cat Collection - David W Nichols

oe gave a big yawn, it was morning. He stretched and said to himself, Today is not a school day. I have done all my weekly chores around the house for mommy. My room is clean, okay a little cluttered but dad would not mind that. I wonder what my best friend Leon is doing today? Moe ate a snack for breakfast and told his mom and daddy that he was heading to Leon’s, to see what Leon had planned. His parents told him to mind Mrs. Lion and remind her that tomorrow they were coming over in the afternoon. Okay, mom I’ll tell her! as he shut the door. (Do you keep your room clean?)

Leon was just getting up too. He stretched like the big cat he is. Leaning back first and then forward. Spreading his claws as he did it. Dad was getting ready to leave for work, he is the mayor [Elected leader, in this usage]. Morning dad, morning mommy. Have an enjoyable day at work dad!

His dad replied, You too son, I’ll see you at lunch maybe. Okay daddy. As dad kissed mommy bye. Mommy then said, Come and eat your breakfast, Leon. He ate his breakfast and soon after Moe showed up. (Do you stretch when you wake up?)

There was a soft knock on the door, Leon almost knocked over his chair racing to open the door. Good morning, Mrs. Lion, Hi Leon, what do you want to do today? Moe said. Leon replied, My mom said I could go play with you. I did? said Mrs. Lion. Yes, that will be fine. Is not Elie also supposed to come by this morning as well? Leon said Yes, she is but Elie will be here in about half an hour.

Moe said I had a strange dream last night that I was as big as a lion. I was protecting the town with Jake, and Ralph the two water buffalos, Mr. Cheetah, and Sydney Python. Which got me thinking that I would like to be a police officer serving the town and protecting it too!

Really? said Leon. Being small you could be a great detective [one who solves cases in this usage] because you can go places others cannot. When we play hide and seek you are hard to find. I think you could be good at that!"

Just then their good friend Elie arrived. Hello fellows, said Elie. What’s new? Oh, nothing much. How are you doing today, Elie? said Moe. Leon said What do you mean nothing much? Moe dreamt of being a law enforcement officer and I think we should go in search of a case to solve!

Elie replied. Ooh, that sounds like fun! Let us do that guys. How about solving the problem of The Missing Flower? The missing flower? said Leon. Moe said, Oh yes, the case of the missing flower! Mrs. Owl is missing a flower that Mr. Owl gave her Friday at lunch time! When school was over it was missing!"

Where should we go first Moe? Leon said. Moe replied, Why to the scene of the crime! Of course, great idea Moe! Elie continued, Let us go to the school! The group started walking toward the school. Once there, Moe scurried [moved around fast, in this usage] around looking for clues. Interesting, I might have a clue! Moe said. I see zebra prints right next to this flower petal! Let us follow the hoof prints and see where they go. The group followed Moe as he scurried down one path and found a petal and then another path and found yet another petal. This is really fun. said Leon. Elie replied, Oh yes this is lots of fun!

The last path Moe was tracking led to the huge savanna [a flat grassland, in this usage]! Well, I have lost the trail, there are too many hoof prints now. Elie saw Zeb in the distance and called out to him. Zeb! Zeb! Can you come over here please?

Sure, I will be right there! Zeb galloped [ran steadily, in this usage] over. Hi everyone, what is up Elie? said Zeb. Moe started talking. So, Zeb, yesterday after school, what did you do? I came back here after school, just like my mom told me to. Zeb replied. Did you happen to see anyone with a flower in their mouth? Moe asked. Zeb replied No, but yes, I had a flower in my mouth. Mrs. Owl noticed that I was looking at it and asked me if I would like to have it. I said sure and she started to leave so I took it. I took it so I could give it to my mom. But it tasted so good in my mouth, I accidently ate it all before I got home. said Zeb. Case solved! said Moe.

On their way back towards the pond Leon saw a monkey caught in a tree. A branch was twisted in the monkeys tail. Leon asked Hey, do you need help getting untangled [untied, in this usage]? I sure do, Leon. Leon started climbing up the tree and untangled the monkeys tail from the branch. There you go. Gee, thanks a lot Leon. I have been stuck for minutes. said the monkey.

On the trail they found that the beavers had a tree that had fallen across the path. Need some help? asked Elie. We sure could use some help getting the trail cleared again. Said Trent the beaver. He continued We were thinking of using ropes and such to get it, but the limbs are in the way, and none are thick enough to hold a rope. Elie said, Piece of cake. And she thought about cake and was slightly distracted [her thoughts changed to eating cake, in this usage], soon she lifted the heavy end and dragged it aside. There you go guys! Thanks Elie! said the whole beaver work crew.

Wow, what an adventure. Moe stated, We solved a case, helped a monkey, and just now cleared the trail! We were just using our various traits, which is neat. Leon then replied to Moe, Yes you are right. Elie said, That is nice. Everyone has special talents.
