Rockville - Heather Beck
I don’t care what you say,
seventeen-year-old Calla Lily Milroy snapped. "I’ll never ever like it here."
Stop complaining,
Mrs. Milroy scolded.
No!
Calla Lily cried. I want to go home. I refuse to live in Rockville.
Calla Lily was about to complain some more when the car suddenly swerved off the road and stopped dangerously close to a large rock formation that lined the road. Her heart raced rapidly.
I can’t take your whining any longer!
Mr. Milroy bellowed, turning around to face Calla Lily. Either you close your mouth or get out of this car and walk home.
James!

Mr. Milroy grunted. Do you think I wanted to be fired and then forced to move because we couldn’t pay the bills?
No,
Calla Lily said humbly. She suddenly felt awful for all the complaining she’d done in the last month and a half. Calla Lily tried to hide the tear that had fallen down her blushing cheek.
I know this isn’t the ideal situation for any of us,
Mrs. Milroy said rationally. But we have to make the best of things. James, you’ll find another job, perhaps an even better job than before. And Calla Lily, you’ll make new friends. When school starts in a few weeks you’ll meet a lot of people.
And you’ll find another book club,
Calla Lily added, trying to be positive.
"I know something else that’ll make
