Heather Beck is a Canadian Author and Screenwriter who began writing professionally at the age of sixteen. Since then she has written eleven well-reviewed books, including the best-selling series, The Horror Diaries, which has sold in six continents. Heather received an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from university where she specialized in English and studied an array of disciplines.     Have you sent out all the invitations? Count Darkness hissed as blood trickled down his chin. 

    Yes, Countess Darkness replied, while slurping on her own package of blood. All sixty two invitations have been sent to Vampira’s members. They’ve been instructed to meet us in Fall Valley. 

    Excellent, Count Darkness praised.

    I knew you’d be pleased, Countess Darkness said, while throwing her empty blood package into a nearby trash can and then flicking her long black hair over her shoulders.

    Tall, thin and very pale, Count Darkness and Countess Darkness were the leaders of Vampira – an association of vampires that met annually for a week in late October. 

    I can’t wait to see all my children of the dark! Count Darkness cried as he reached for another package of blood.

    I’m going to be a cat for Halloween, Lisa told her friend, Genevieve, as they walked down the hall of Fall Valley High.

    Genevieve looked at Lisa in shock. You’ve got to be kidding.

    About what?

    How old do you think you are? Genevieve asked through a sigh.

    Lisa twirled her brown hair around her index finger. What do you mean? she demanded.

    "Aren’t you a little old for trick-or-treating? We are in high school now."

    I wasn’t planning on going trick-or-treating, Lisa hurried to explain. I’m just handing out candy.

    You’re not handing out candy this Halloween, Genevieve said mysteriously, pausing for dramatic effect. 

    Curious, Lisa raised her eyebrows. 

    You’re coming to our first high school party tomorrow, she finally explained with a wide smile.

    I don’t think that’s a good idea, Lisa protested.

    Why not?

    I really don’t like crowds, Lisa began. I also hate dancing. It would be a waste of time.
