A CUT ABOVE THE REST
Dropping off my son Oisin, five, in the playground, I sighed. ‘I can’t believe it’s his first day of primary school,’ I said.
I saw all his classmates running around with friends, but my little boy was all on his own, with no one to play with.
‘Hello, you’re new at my school, aren’t you? Do you want to play?’ I heard a little voice ask.
I looked towards Oisin and saw him standing with a girl with long blonde hair.
He wasn’t the type to be shy, but he was unusually quiet on his first day in a new place, and with no friends, this little girl was a blessing in disguise.
Later on that afternoon, I asked him about his day.
‘I made a friend called Lulu today, she looks like a princess with long blonde hair,’ he smiled.
