Disappointed. I absolutely love Cora Riley her books are amazing she’s one of my favourite authors but I had really high expectations for this book.

It was extremely rushed, there wasn’t that smooth character development and none of that sexual tension that her other books had. This was just written so quickly like she wanted to finish it asap so I didn’t feel it. It had so much potential it’s an amazing story line but it was fine. Could have been better but try it you may like it.

I loved it. So many times I was hoping Sophia would realise how much Denello wanted her and not her sister. I hope we get to read about their kids at some point. I also want a book about Samuel and Emma.

I listened to the audiobook of this and it’s fantastic. Love the narration and sped through it so quickly. I picked up this book as it’s a standalone to break up a series I’m currently reading. I feel you should go in blind reading this. But I will mention a couple of things before you decide to pick it up. The female character Sofia is 12 years old at the start of this and due to a fall out with her sister Serifina, Sofia is now to marry Danilio who at the time is 22.
There condition is that they have to wait 6 years until she is 18 and of age to marry. Also Sofia has had a major crush on Danilio from a young age and Danilio only had eyes for her older sister Serifina. Danilio avoided and kept distance as she wasn’t of age yet but when she turned 17 she wanted Danilio to notice her so she started to force herself on him but he said no and pushed her away the other incident is a bit more dark before she turns 18.
Overall she is young and he is 10 years older. She just wants to be his first thought not a second. Sofia gets upset about what Danilio does and who he has previously been with. By the end I loved how Danilio was making up for his mistakes and the intimate scenes felt romantic and emotional for both. Felt it was a bit of a slowburn but still really enjoyed.

This was my first book by this author and I had high hopes as I have seen good reviews of her work. The first half of the book was almost entirely the backstory which felt like it dragged a bit. I was waiting for the main characters to really interact more. Before they get to know one another at all, their first sexual encounter at a party is just a bit on the weird and unbelievable side. The main female character disguises herself and decides she’s going to let her fiancé treat her like a meaningless angry sexual encounter but then holds it against him for many chapters to come. After that point, the book just starts feeling like any new couple trying to navigate sex. Lots of focus on that. I DNF the book. Got 80% of the way through. Hoping future books by this author will be better.

Liked the narrator, Teddy Hamilton. Book was not for me but is definitely for readers who enjoy the innocent virgin (yawn) in arranged marriage meshed in mafia family story. There's not a thing wrong with the book.
