About this audiobook

Dante

My life is a tale of betrayal.

I killed so many because they betrayed our cause, because they betrayed the Outfit.

A hypocrite. A liar. A murderer.

That’s what I am.

Five times I betrayed the Outfit. With my blood I made a vow to our cause, swore my life to it, promised to put the Outfit first. Above all else.

Five times I chose a woman over the good of the Outfit. I betrayed my father. My vow. My men.

You reap what you sow.

Would my betrayals destroy everything I swore to protect?

Valentina

On our wedding day I made a vow to stand by Dante’s side.

In good and in bad times.

To love him through it all.

Growing up in the mafia, I knew the challenges in our life would be numerous. I never expected them to tear at the very base of our family, of our existence.

I would divide this book into two parts: an analysis of Dante's psyche & a prelude to Serafina's story.

I felt a connection to Valentina in her first book and was happy to revisit her story. At the beginning we move through several events from Dante's past and see how his character was formed. I truly appreciated a closer look into this character, but it felt like a report at times. One minute he's a teenage boy, the next he's facing his wife's death. However, when he and Val were finally together, it was so rewarding to see them working as a couple. She made a place for herself in his world and he appreciated her for more than being a pretty face and a fertile womb.

And then the action picked up, lighting speed! I didn't know much about Fina and was so surprised to discover how her story goes. I can't wait to read all about it. Not only is this storyline well established here, we also see how it affects the Outfit and what Dante has to deal with as a Capo.

Claro que siempre eliges a la familia, si fuera diferente probablemente ni sentirías “remordimiento por traición”.

I tried to go through this story for a while now. And boy… I’m glad it’s finally done! Worst ever… i get that they are your children and that you would do anything for them… but the Seraphina storyline had me throwing the book away so many times… And now that I read the entire series… I hope that Luca and Remo (or Ano and Navio) will dismantle them ans share the territories between themselves … this family it’s way to annoying for me.

I almost feel sorry for Dante. He's losing so much to the other sides. I hope he wil remain strong!

Wow! What a story. I'm usually not into suspense romance novels but this author has an extraordinary talent of pulling you into her tales. Many unexpected twists, tear jerking situations, impossible conundrums and decisions....A real page turner!
