I absolutely loved His Pretty Little Burden by Nicci Harris. This book has it all: passion, suspense, drama, and an unforgettable love story between a powerful crime boss of the Cosa Nostra: Clay Butcher, and his endearing sweet heroine, Fawn Harlow.

I adore Nicci and her writing style is incredible, and she creates a world full of danger and intrigue that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Fawn is a sweet and innocent orphaned young woman who is pregnant and alone. Clay is a formidable figure in the world of organised crime, but also the Mayor of The District in Australia, when Fawn shows up at his door seeking protection, he can't help but feel drawn to her. Despite the age gap and the dangers that surround them, their chemistry is undeniable, and their romance is nothing short of epic.

The characters in this book are so well-developed that you feel like you know them personally. Fawn is a relatable and endearing character, and Clay is the perfect alpha male with a soft spot for his affectionately called: “Little Deer” – his pretty little burden. Their love story is intense and emotional, and I found myself cheering for them from the very beginning.

The steamy scenes in this book are hot and steamy, and the violence and drama only add to the

This is one of the hottest Age-Gap dynamic I’ve read in a long-time and I do read a ton of them and are a favourite trope.
Whilst this may make some feel uncomfortable, it really shouldn’t because although Sir Clay holds the power, and comes across as very controlling, it’s coming from a protective and caring place – he wants to give her everything she never had and more – he wants to empower her, he constantly encourages her to use her voice and he always praises her and absolutely worships her – he loves all of her, and is accepting to care for not only her, but her unborn child – fathered by another - Clay Butcher is a massive swoon-fest – the powerful mafia Don who wants nothing but to love this sweet little deer.

Being Mafia, this is quite dark as is the nature of organised crime – there is violence, and drama and with that comes gore, so prepare thyself and please do check your tiggers.

The narrators for both Clay and Fawn are EXACTLY how I heard them in my head when I first read this duet! I loved it in eBook but I’m OBSESSED with it in Audio. The production to this story with the sound changes for the audio police recordings and what not make it so much more of an immersive experience.

If you love a possessive, alpha-male, Australian M@fi@ Boss who’s heart of stone starts to soften for a sweet innocent darling named Fawn then you need to listen to this duet! Daddy of the District and his Little Deer are one of my favourite dark romance, m@fi@, age gap couples I’ve ever read & to add the spice is delicious! (Did someone say ?warming ?)

I am excited to keep reading listening when His Pretty Little Queen comes out. Clay being the oldest holds alot of responsibility and we see how that has had an effect on his life and relationships in this book. I am excited to see him grow to wanting more then just what the Family or Business needs. And Fawn is such a sweetheart who really just wants to be loved. I'm excited to see them navigate their pasts as well as the current challenges to keep moving forward into a life they can both be happy in.❤️❤️ I am very interested to see how the current relationship standings will change and or adapt in the second half of their story as well. The Audio narrator's do an amazing job bringing Clay and Fawn to life. I can not wait for more audio of this couple. ❤️❤️

Absolutely garbage. I'm sorry to the author that this sounds harsh, but I got like 75% through and wanted to DNF. SPOILERS!!! She has a miscarriage and the SAME DAY/NEXT DAY they're having sex? Absolutely not. And then she is hypersexual from her trauma and he takes advantage of that. I don't even want to bother with the next book.

Age gaps don't usually bother me but a barely 18 severely traumatized and pregnant foster child and a man who is using her unborn child to lure in an enemy was just unredeamable for me. Particularly when using a dom sub type realtionship. It just seemed like romanticising grooming. Graphic detailing of trauma didn't seem to push the plot along

Nicci does it again with this newest offering in this series. With each book my love for the Butcher men just grows even stronger. This book was no exception with the domineering Clay Butcher. Yet, when it came to Fawn aka Little Deer, he rode a fine line with not being too harsh with Fawn. Also, can I take a moment to just mention the sex scenes...holy hell!! There might have been some mental role playing going on in my head while reading this book. Where I imagined myself in Fawn's shoes. She is one very luckily woman. Just when I think I have a favorite Butcher guy, Nicci comes out with the next book, and I fall in love with the next one. So, you can say that my favorite is all Butcher men. Which it was great to see them in this book as well.
