About this audiobook

Hellhounds and squirrels and vultures, oh my!

The hellhound on her lawn is just another stray animal in need of some love—at least that’s what animal-whisperer witch Adrienne Perkins believes. She’s got a soft heart for lost souls like her vulture familiar, the four squirrels living in her house, that stray hellhound…and the sexy demon who’s been invading her nightly dreams.

But that sexy demon wants more than a romp in the sheets. He’s hunting an escapee from hell, and insists his fugitive is one of Addy’s squirrels. The cute little guy may have sold his soul to the devil a lifetime ago, but Addy isn’t about to give up a furry friend who has turned to her for protection—even if it might cost her the demon of her dreams.

Debra Dunbar

After majoring in English Literature with a concentration in Medieval and Folklore studies, Debra promptly sold out to the corporate world, occasionally dabbling in writing marketing copy and op/ed articles for a local city paper. By day, she designs compensation programs, after dark she stuffs her nose into obscure mythology, and feverishly writes her novels. A DEMON BOUND is her debut novel. Debra lives on a farm in Maryland with Sweetie, three sons, and a Noah’s ark of four legged family members. Unlike her protagonist, she drives an old PT Cruiser, couldn’t carry a tune if you duct taped it to her back, and enjoys an occasional cosmopolitan (heavy on the vodka). On a good day, she jogs and horseback rides, hopefully managing to keep the horse between herself and the ground. Her only known super power is ‘Identify Roadkill’.

For the most part this series has been alright. I listen to it while I work so the stories can’t be too complicated or intricate. These are not. They are a light easy read (or audio). This one however I didn’t like at all. It’s the character. To put it simply, Adrienne is an idiot. I can’t tell you how many times in my head I called her stupid. Her actions were selfish and just down right inexplicable. Let me summarize. This whole story was around a squirrel. Real exciting. This squirrel is actually a man who ran away from hell and belongs to Satan. Signed a contract. All said this isn’t a nice man. He was supposed to go to hell for a reason. Adrienne doesn’t even like the freaking squirrel. She names him Hemorrhoid that’s how much she likes him. He’s a jerk and a cheat so hey let’s stand up for the little prick so he isn’t sent back to hell where he belongs. In the process of this let’s cause trouble between her sister Cassie and Lucian all over a squirrel she doesn’t even like. Thrown in a childish temper tantrum of slamming doors and banging down the stairs of a professional office and we have her in a nut shell. Stupid, dumb a who is more concerned about keeping a squirrel she doesn’t even want them the fighting and contention she’s causing between her sister and spouse. Sounds like a plan.

Worst premise yet. Hatred the idea that a cute furry face could buy his way out of hell. Shame because the romance aspect was good. The only reason it managed the 2 stars.
