It seems like lately I have been reading a bunch of second chance romances and All Night with the Cowboy was no exception. Tanner Ford and Lauren Lewis have a tumultuous past, one that neither of them has managed to forget. They had started dating in high school, with Tanner being the stereotypical bad boy rebel and Lauren being the innocent girl next door type. Everyone thought they were going to be together forever, especially Tanner. So, imagine his surprise when Lauren just up and left him with no real explanation as to why. He was devastated and had no idea why she ended things so abruptly.Tanner’s devastation morphed into anger and then into hatred. He hated Lauren and he used that hatred as fuel to keep all women at a distance for over a decade. During that decade, Tanner spent his time doing what he loved which was being a professional bull rider. His luck must have run out though because Tanner was horribly injured by a bull and was lucky that he even survived. Tanner’s sister Mia knew that if Tanner was going to get back to bull riding, which was his deepest desire, he was going to need the best physical therapist around. Unfortunately, the best PT in town was none other than Tanner’s ex.Lauren had her regrets when it came to Tanner but she had moved on with her life to the best of her ability. When Mia had contacted her about Tanner, Lauren was against being his physical therapist. She had a long-awaited vacation that she had already paid for and she was going to take it. Mia had to sweeten the deal and Lauren finally agreed to help him but when Tanner found out he absolutely refused. He hated Lauren but when he did his research he found that she truly was the best PT around. If he wanted to get back to what he loved doing he was going to have to find a way to stand being around Lauren. What neither Lauren or Tanner ever expected was that even after a decade their attraction would be sizzling but would that be enough to work through their issues in order to give them another chance at love?I liked Tanner’s character from the prequel, Cowboy Stole My Heart, and was intrigued to find out the reason why he kept women at arm’s length. There was a lot of tension at the start of All Night with the Cowboy because Tanner was angry and Lauren felt bad. I liked that even though Lauren was conflicted about Tanner that she was professional about everything. Tanner was a bit of a jerk but I liked that he wasn’t unreasonable. He tried real hard to make the best of a bad situation and it wasn’t too long before he realized that he was pretty immature and needed to get over some things. It was nice to see these characters work through their own issues and it made the romance very sweet and believable. This review is based on a complimentary book I received from NetGalley. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.

All Night With the Cowboy by Soraya Lane is a second chance at love romance between former high school sweethearts. This latest addition to the River Ranch series can easily be read as a standalone.

Billionaire bull rider Tanner Ford is seriously injured in the arena and he is going to need intense physical therapy to help him recover in order to resume his career. He has resisted all efforts from his family to hang up his spurs so he will do just about anything to continue participating in the sport he loves. However, Tanner is not at all happy to discover that his sister has just hired his former high school girlfriend as his physical therapist.

Lauren Lewis gave up the only man she ever loved to ensure she received the best college education her parents could buy. She has worked hard to make sure her reputation as physical therapist for the Texas Rangers is impeccable so she makes it clear to Tanner there will be no hanky-panky between them.  The two soon jet off to Fiji for a working vacation where the romantic island soon has Lauren rethinking her stance on maintaining a professional distance from the only man she ever has ever loved.

Neither Lauren nor Tanner ever really recovered from their broken hearts so their initial encounters are prickly with lots of animosity especially from Tanner. He never quite understood why she broke things off with him and he has never been involved in another serious relationship. Although Lauren knows she made the right choice, she does have a few regrets about how she handled the end of their romance. Like Tanner, she has steered clear of emotional entanglements since their split and she has intention of doing anything to jeopardize her carefully cultivated reputation in sports medicine.

However, Lauren quickly changes her mind about not acting on the still sizzling hot attraction between her and Tanner. Their no strings fling has a short shelf life since their new mantra is "what happens in Fiji stays in Fiji" but will they be able to forget about one another again after they return to their regular lives? Will the memories of their painful breakup continue to serve as a cautionary tale for a real reunion between them?

All Night With the Cowboy by Soraya Lane is a well-written but somewhat insipid romance that has few surprises. Tanner is ridiculously stubborn and his continued resentment towards Lauren becomes tiresome. Lauren's reasons for their initial break up are a bit weak and once they are on Fiji, she abandons her principles at an astonishing speed.  Their renewed relationship feels superficial and it stretches the bonds of credibility to believe they are still in love given the passage of time and Tanner's simmering anger towards Lauren for breaking his heart. Readers might feel hard-pressed to feel much sympathy for Lauren's claim she is heartbroken over their break up since it was her decision to end things with him.  All of their lingering issues are wrapped up fairly quickly and this second installment in the River Ranch series comes to a sweetly romantic conclusion.

Tanner & Lauren had quite a history. Serious until the summer before college & then Lauren unexpectedly breaks up with him. They each go their separate ways & manage to excel in their chosen careers. Now, years later, Tanner has sustained a serious injury & needs a good physical therapist in order to fully heal & get back on the circuit. Tanner's sister hires the best she can find, Lauren. What follows is two people circling each other, intense sexual tension, bargaining & finally, an agreement that what happens on the island stays on the island. I really enjoyed this story. The characters were interesting & their interactions illustrated the chemistry between them. Even though this was the second in the series, each book is a self contained story about a different couple. There are appearances from the other characters but the reader won't feel like they are missing something. The plot was intense & passionate whether the reader is thinking of the relationship between Tanner & Lauren or the battle between Tanner & his family about him continuing on the circuit. I felt this was a great book & would recommend it to those who don't want their love scenes behind closed doors.

All Night With the Cowboy by Soraya LaneContemporary romance. He’s determined to make it back to number one in bull riding competition. He’ll do whatever is necessary to heal including working with the woman who broke his heart. So even though he despised her, her hands massaging in a therapeutic way should mean nothing. I admire her for working for her dream career. I didn’t care for his determination to continue bull riding. He kept saying to himself that he would quit for the right reasons but I didn’t feel it was genuine. Two minor scenes that pushed me out of the story:Caught on the plane in what looked to be a compromising position - why didn’t she go and talk to the flight attendant? She just went back to her seat to watch movies? On a small private island in Fiji, they make love in the sand. Um. I wold think sweaty and thus sticking sand. That scene just had me thinking “uncomfortable”.Overall, a good romance which is my bread and butter. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.

All Night with the Cowboy by Soraya LaneRiver Ranch #2Second chance romance genre in which injured bull rider Tanner Ford meeting up with doctor of physical therapy and first love of his life Lauren Lewis – they head off together to an island paradise where she will heal him. This book had potential but for some reason I had trouble seeing why the two were actually attracted to one another. They were both career driven but their careers were totally opposite to one another and after years apart I am not sure that there would truly be so much chemistry still there for the two of them or why Tanner would still be so angry with Lauren. The reason they broke up is iffy in my mind as another option or two could have been found that would have allowed them to stay together. The two seemed immature at times for their age. I can’t put my finger on why this was not a winner in my estimation but will say it was an okay to good read with plenty of steam between them and a HEA ending. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review. 3-4 Stars
