About this audiobook

Payne:

In search of: room to rent.

Must ignore the patheticness of a forty-year-old roommate.

Preferably dirt cheap as funds are tight (nonexistent).

There’s nothing sadder than moving back to my hometown newly divorced, homeless, and lost for what my next move is.

When my little brother’s best friend offers me a place to stay in exchange for menial duties, I swallow my pride and jump at the offer.

I need this.

I also need Beau to wear a shirt. And ditch the gray sweatpants. And not leave his door ajar when he’s in compromising positions ...

Beau:

In search of: roommate.

Must be non smoker and non douchebag.

Room payment to be made in meal planning, repairs, and dumb jokes.

Since my career took off, I barely have time to breathe, let alone keep my life in order. I’m naturally chaotic, make terrible decisions, and scare off potential dates with my “weirdness”.

So when Payne gets back into town and needs somewhere to stay, I offer him my spare room with one condition: while he’s staying with me, I need him to help me become date-able.

And while he does that, I can focus on my other plan: ignoring that Payne is the only man I’ve ever wanted to date.

I liked the story a lot but I have noticed that there are weird pauses, not just on this audiobook but on many on this app so it might just be the app, but long pauses and then comes back and I missed about 45 seconds of the book each time.

    ***May contain minor spoilers***

This was such a sweet book! I smiled throughout the book. The MCs were so sweet to each other. Beau is the sweetest character ever but he never feels pathetic or sad. He owns his weirdness and his feelings and I love that. My only complaints were 1. I wanted more explanation from Kyle. I respect Payne was over it but I wasn't ?. 2. The refusing to ever marry again really bugged me. I know marriage isn't a huge deal, but it feels like Kyle got something Beau doesn't and I hate that.
    Narrator was wonderful!

The story was quite meaningful qnd had the depth aan authenticity thay could be encountered in real life situations. I felt like Beau put much more effort than Payne though. It is actually quite understandable that Payne would have struggled to move on given what he had gone through with Kyle. It was just not the best time for him but this meant the burden of pursuing and carrying the relationship ended up landing squarely on Beau's shoulders- kinda unfair. However in the end Payne realized what having Beau meant to and how much value Beau added to his wellbeing and he stood up and took the required action to make things work. That was very brave and admirable. Ot is funny how I knew that Kyle would beg for a chance to talk so he could try win Payne back and once he got it he would use the chance to put the blame on Payne and still expect him to forgive and stay married to him.
The Only Fans membership for hook ups and cheating was quite a funny idea I laughed.
All in all.it was a meaningful story and I bet all the stories in the series are worth reading too.

Narrator of this entire series is a bad fit. These men are mostly in their 40s, some almost 50 and the narrator sounds 20-25. Also one narrator for all the books? Bad Idea. The main characters all start sounding like each other, especially if you listen consecutively.

Good easy low agnst MM romance. I appreciated the elements of found family between the guys of the DMC and I enjoyed how the relationship progressed between the MCs

It was really good. Only think i dislike is that thay were acting like guys in their 20's, not almost 40. But, hey, what about it. Maybe *somewhere* in USA are guys who really act like this ?
