About this audiobook

Mike Bravo. Knights in shining ... camo.

Iris:

I live for adrenaline. The thrill of the chase. And because I work for Mike Bravo, a private black-ops firm, it’s my job to go into dangerous situations.

But when we’re called in to extract a military team from a hostile situation, the thrill is so much better. Because one of those men happen to be the golden boy from my basic training days.

Brock “Saint” Harlow was a walking Captain America in the flesh. The perfect soldier.

Now my boss wants to recruit him, and I can’t wait to rub it in his face that he was rescued by me. The class clown.

I’m not called Iris “I require intense supervision” for nothing.

Saint:

Military life is all I’ve known since I was born. I was raised to be a soldier.

But when a top-secret mission fails, I find myself suddenly discharged with nowhere to go.

Mike Bravo saved my life, and they want me to join them, but there’s one small problem.

Isaac “Iris” Griffin.

He’s as irresistibly snarky as he always was, only there’s a big difference this time.

I’m no longer closeted or scared to live my truth. And the truth is, I’ve always wanted him.

It’s against Mike Bravo’s rules to fraternize with other team members, and I always follow orders.

But something tells me Iris might be worth the insubordination.

Pretty basic military m/m romance with a comfortable amount of humor and quite enjoyable.
It was rather white/cis/monogamous, but still more queer than a lot of other books in the genre.
Nothing out of the ordinary, but I enjoyed it a lot, especially the focus on mental health and consciously breaking out of toxic masculinity. Iris was a fun, and I liked reading about his connection to Saint both years ago and in the present.
The plot was shortwhile and exciting.
The one thing I suppose I wasn't the biggest fan of was that it felt rather... glorifying of the military, but I knew that this would be a main focus going in, so I'm not complaining. I however wish Mike Bravo Ops wasn't so closely affiliated with the US army - not sure why it is. It makes for a good plot, though.
I greatly appreciated how the book discusses mental health, taking care of oneself, and actively avoids and criticised toxic masculinity.

I loved this! It's funny and Iris is very over the top, but also really fun. This was a really great start to this series. I loved how Iris and Saint had history between them and could reconnect.

    Love it.
There are some parts that I can't hear the difference between the 2 main characters voice..both sounds the same.
    Fun, good story.
Iris is such a deadly, funny, slut of a guy.

EF is hilarious. I always laugh a lot when I read her work. I like the ribbing between Saint and Iris. I like these types of stories because they are action packed yet funny and kinda lighthearted in a way. Saint and Iris started off as frenemies who went through army training together but as time goes on they become closer and closer until they discover they can't live without each other. I loved it. Can't wait to see what the rest of the series has in store.

Great start to series, after meeting Iris in Pop Star was really looking forward to his story. And it’s was worth it. The missions are pushed through fairly quickly but are pivotal to the story. Iris & Saint go back to basic training, they weren’t besties but had quiet respect for each other. When they are teamed together, there’s a mutual attraction, and in spite MBO rules, they find it hard to deny it. To be fair they don’t try that hard. ? like the adrenaline junkies they are, it’s a wild ride.

This is a playful book. A bit silly. Almost feels like an Alice Winters book with over-the-top characters. Props for showing realistic depictions of recovery from injury. None of this "bounces back in two days" nonsense.

The rom com feel between two super masc characters in a military-like field, makes this come off super fake. Fantasy wish-fulfill-y. Though it does fix a lot of the issues with actual military systems. Mostly because the leader is portrayed as having a heart of gold.
