About this audiobook

Hatched from an egg but unable to shift into dragon form, Jathen is a Moot among the Tazu. His rightful throne is forbidden him because of his transformative handicap, and neither his culture nor his religion offer acceptance of his perceived flaws.

Driven by wounded anger, Jathen strikes out across the vast world beyond Tazu borders, desperate to find a place where he feels accepted and whole. Though he travels with the most trusted of companions, sabotage and conspiracy soon strike his quest. Jathen and his allies must struggle against man and magic alike, at the mercy of forces beyond their ken.

As Jathen presses on, his questions of belonging are surrounded by more of identity, loyalty, and betrayal. Where will the path of his destiny lead, and will he follow or fall?

Editor's Note

Forge your destiny…

In this first of “The Tazu Saga,” Jathen can’t transform into his true dragon form, making him an outcast in his family and society. His only hope is journeying across foreign lands in search of a place to call home. “Way Walkers” addresses identity, belonging, and forging your own destiny.

Very interesting take on being outcast for how you look but still loved by friends and family.
Also enjoyed that the author put their Chow Chow in the author description.

Interesting book, but as I listened at times Jathen's character annoyed me. He IMO wouldn't make a good king yet, as he was self deprecating, naive, impatient and at times a quitter. I know there was more to the puzzle box given him, but he didn't at the time. Of course, one must keep listening to see if the character grows and comes into himself and his destiny.

This story drew me in from the beginning. The author draws the relationships between her characters so well, I was immediately invested in them. Great job of world building without resorting to lots of exposition or characters that over explain everything. On to the next!

*Spoilers* Meh. I'm not sure I'm going to continue the series. The Moot prince is a whiner. Seriously. He misses so many opportunity to develop some kind of SKILL because he's so self pitying. He's caught up crying about how he'll never fly and he'll never be king. It's aggravating after the first 300 pages. So will I actually like the next book? I also think it's crazy CRAZY to spend so much gawtdamn time building relationships just to kill EVERY SINGLE ONE in the last chapters. And even after... The main character is still weak and whiny ?

Slow to start, but well worth reading once you get into the meat of the story. It's an interesting world & book 1 seems largely a vehicle to setup the story/world-building/plot for rest of the series. I'm looking forward to continuing & seeing how it develops.

A little long winded in some places especially the start but a decent story.

Well, this story just magically captivated me from the first page! It is certainly in the top five best story I’ve ever read, Game of Thrones, The Hobbit, Lord of the rings, Harry Potter, and for me, this book fits neatly along those legends! Enjoy!!

Finally a series with a Prince as the main character on a journey to make sense of how different the he from this people. I enjoy the writing style and the world buildings. There's magic and psychics characters with alot of themes of reincarnation and fate. It's got me hooked.
