LSU's defensive struggles have been no secret this season. The Tigers have the 98th ranked pass defense and the 102nd ranked run defense in all of college football, amongst the ranks of Buffalo and Arkansas State. LSU gave up nearly 500 total yards to Florida this past week and over 500 to Alabama the week before. The defense has hurt the team and is the reason why this elite LSU offense will not compete for an SEC Championship or a national title this season. The good thing for LSU fans is you can always rebuild the defense with a better coaching staff and by hitting the recruiting trail. The bad news, however, is that this defense just might be so bad that it could but the defenses of the next few years in a bad position as well.
Cait Bates, a four-star cornerback from Florida announced that he is decommitting from LSU. That is the second of LSU's two best corners in the 2024 class to decommit, along with four-star Ondre Evans.
