Description

A solo cast sharing Jessie’s journey both getting coached and as a coach. This episode is an opportunity to hear why Jessie pivoted to coaching, clarify potential misconceptions about coaching, and explain why coaching is magically impactful as an intervention for high-achievers, especially physicians.  Listen to hear how coaching is different from therapy, mentorship, and friendship and some of the evidence of its impact on burnout. In 2020, Jessie left her thriving pediatric practice and multiple physician leadership roles to become a life coach. Jessie didn't leave medicine because of burnout, She left because coaching was the thing that changed everything.  What is the one thing that you could do that will change everything? For Jessie it was coaching… that's why she shares it with all of you. How might coaching help you? “Jessie reframed situations for me that allowed me to invite peace and compassion into situations that initially felt stuck and hopeless. I feel ten times more resilient as a physician.” — FAM MED “When I started coaching I felt like I had to save myself or be a doctor.  Now I can take care of myself AND do my job well.” -ONCOLOGY “Coaching made me more committed to making choices in my life that align with my priorities, loves, and goals for success.” -INTERNIST "The compassion, joy, and love you’ve helped me find in this incredibly transformative journey has illuminated the countless and creative ways I can enjoy a career in medicine.” — MEDICAL DIRECTOR, GENENTECH “She helped me understand my professional goals and how they align with, rather than compete with, my personal goals. She listened to my very specific concerns and helped me outline a plan for work that was achievable. “ - ANESTHESIOLOGIST “After coaching I am more confident in myself.  What others say/do affects me a lot less – it may sting for a second, but the negative feelings don’t linger. I make fewer assumptions about people. I approach situations with curiosity rather than judgment.”- GASTROENTEROLOGIST “The change was magical. With every week I transformed my mind - I became calm, I stopped reacting & was/am able to choose my actions.” - Interventional Cardiologist “Very soon after starting, my mood dramatically improved and my anxiety was significantly less.”- Endocrinologist “I am much stronger and more in control of my own happiness.  I really didn’t ever believe before that I could feel calm and happy in this way.”- Ob Gyn   What are your thoughts on coaching?
