A re-release of last year's pre-Mothers Day episode.  Tips to enjoy your Mother's Day to the fullest. Mother’s Day is not always rainbows and joy.  We share several strategies and approaches, all grounded in mindfulness, to help you find joy and presence, whether you are a mother or not. These strategies also help on other significant “life days” such as holidays and birthdays. When you approach the day with mindfulness and intention, it’s possible to experience beauty, connection, love, and a day you will remember with fondness - no matter what transpires. Asking yourself “How interesting…” when the day unfolds differently than you expect can help you step out of judgment and away from unmet expectations and bring you back into the current moment. Gratitude also helps. Regardless of whether or not you are a mother, you can choose to be grateful for being born. You can choose to feel gratitude for all the mothers in your life, biological or not. And gratitude for your own mothering of other humans, and fur babies, and maybe even for reparenting yourself. Tapping into abundance, feeling grounded, showing up with love, and feeling proud are other useful strategies. Love would replace expectation with intention.
