Description
There are so many myths and misconceptions when it comes to exercising in pregnancy but none more so than pregnancy and our core muscles. Unsurprisingly women are left confused, scared, and disempowered to embrace safe, effective core exercises that are fundamental to our wellness, to a healthier pregnancy and smoother postpartum recovery. That is right ladies- we should not ignore our core in pregnancy!
So, on this week’s episode I am really excited to be joined by Hollie Grant to discuss what our core is- because most of us do not actually understand it, why our core is so important in pregnancy and how we can be safely exercising it to protect and support our changing, growing bodies.
Hollie is a woman with a hell of a lot of passion to empower women to feel strong, powerful, and healthy in pregnancy and her message that you can be Pregnant and Powerful is something that totally resonates with me, and that the world needs to hear. In fact, Hollie attempted a world record attempt for the most pregnant women exercising at one time- that is serious dedication!
Specialising in prenatal Pilates and being an award-winning Pilates instructor, Hollie is an expert in the area of the core, stability and functional movement for pregnancy and so we are in great hands for today’s chat!
You can find Hollie on social media:

And check out her prenatal fitness plan:

Hollie’s goal is to help every woman learn to love exercise for its effect on performance, rather than aesthetic gains and I could not be more on board with this ethos!

E10. Returning to Exercise After Having a Baby with Wendy Powell Founder of MUTU System:
For many women exercise forms part of their identity and hugely influences their overall wellness.

The benefits of exercise for our physical and mental health are well understood and after giving birth this is often more important than ever. During pregnancy and birth women’s body’s are devoted to growing, nurturing and birthing their baby and to do so they undergo huge physiological and psychological changes so it is important we return to exercise in a sensible and safe way in the postpartum.

Guidance seems to be very generalised and there exists a huge amount of vague and confusing information around the processes of postpartum exercise so I am thrilled to be joined on this week’s episode by Wendy Powell the founder and CEO of MUTU system and a woman who is as passionate as I am about supporting women to embrace safe exercise in a way that will enhance their health and by Midwife Pip Podcast
