Description
Brian Kelly and the rest of the coaching and recruiting staff needed to nearly rebuild the secondary from the ground up in their first season at LSU. They had a lot of success that season even with pieces coming form across the country. In year two, they are faced with a similar dilemma. Injuries have plagued the secondary, more specifically the safeties, this spring. Major Burns dealt with an injury that kept him out of spring practice and Greg Brooks had a nagging ankle injury that left him less than one hundred percent. So as players across the country have entered the transfer portal and look for their next landing spot, Kelly and company are looking to add some depth to the safety position. Could that depth be just a few hours down the road?
Trey Amos, cornerback from University of Louisiana-Lafayette, is a highly touted prospect in the transfer portal. He has visits scheduled to Texas A&M and Alabama as well as several schools outside of the Southeastern Conference. But can LSU afford to let an in-state prospect at a position of need go to a divisional rival? Can Amos be a versatile defensive back that can serve as a cornerback and a safety if need be?
