Description

+++ SMARTY PANTS NO LONGER NEEDED +++
Webster’s dictionary gives this definition of a “smarty pants” - a person who talks and behaves like someone who knows everything.
Do you know anyone like that?
Be careful what you say or where you point.
I’ve been surrounded by people who were given the designation of being a “smarty pants.”
Normally, it was done out of jealousy and even envy.
There were a couple students that I went to high school with that I was jealous of simply because they talked and behaved like someone who knows a lot.
And for the most part they did … when it came to academics.
Oh yes, but not so smart when it came to being social. They were more of a loner.
Raise your hand if you had similar experience. OK. I’m not the only one.
What I didn’t know is that I had something on them, which would later in life give me an edge on them.
Why?
What I had could be developed. It was a skill. There were room for growth and I grew.
What they had was pretty much tapped out.
Now I realize that what I had, had a name. I just didn’t know it at the time. It was emotional intelligence, which I have embraced to the point of coining a new word … Emotelligence.
What's that?
Oh, it is having the ability to recognize, understand and manage one’s emotions and the emotions of others and being better skilled at decision making, relationship management and job performance.
That’s where I was smart and that it’s documented that the latter is greater than the former.
