THICK SKIN: HOW TO GET IT
Y'all. I'm a sensitive person.
I'm the girl that likes to cry by intentionally watching sad movies.
When I was a kid I was the only emotional one in my family, and a black sheep because of it. I once cried so hard that my mom told me she might have to send me away.
Think about callouses, they come with time, pressure, and exposure. Now, I'm not trying to get my hands all calloused, but I do like a baseline of callous protection since I lift frequently.
I've had to develop a thick skin, and the truth is that the toughening of one's mental thick skin never ends or stops. Just the other week I had a deep conversation with an influential mentor and investor ... and I hung up the phone - not sure whether or not to smile or cry. I spoke to Brandon about it and he and I agreed that this person, knowing that I am a world-renown confidence coach, assumed that I had the confidence to take straight talk and open criticism. Which, technically, I do. But, that doesn't mean that I don't have to do the mindset work behind taking something that makes me feel sensitive, vulnerable, small, and worthless and I have to intentionally turn it i...
