Home Chef's Handbook - Ronald Marpa

    Wagyu Beef Steak

Wagyu beef, particularly from Japan, is known for its exceptional marbling and tenderness. High-end American restaurants often serve Wagyu steaks cooked to perfection, highlighting the meat's rich flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture.

    Ingredients

➢  Wagyu beef steak (preferably ribeye or filet mignon)

    ➢  Salt and pepper

➢  Olive oil or clarified butter

➢  Optional Ingredients: Depending on the recipe or personal preference, you may also use additional ingredients such as garlic, fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme), or steak rubs for added flavor.

    Preparation

➢  Grill or Skillet: For cooking the Wagyu beef steak. A grill provides the classic charred flavor, while a skillet is perfect for indoor cooking.

➢  Tongs: Used for flipping the steak on the grill or skillet. Opt for long-handled tongs to keep your hands safe from heat.

➢  Meat Thermometer: To ensure your Wagyu beef is cooked to the desired level of doneness.

➢  Cutting Board: For resting the cooked steak and slicing it before serving.

➢  Sharp Knife: For slicing the cooked Wagyu beef steak. A sharp knife ensures clean cuts without tearing the meat.

➢  Optional Equipment: Depending on your cooking method and recipe, you may also need items like a meat mallet (for pounding thinner cuts), a grill brush (for cleaning the grill), and aluminum foil (for tenting the steak while it rests).

    3 Different Ways to Cook:

    1.  Broiling

    a.  Preheat the Broiler: Position the oven rack about 6 inches below the broiler element and preheat the broiler on high.

    b.  Season the Steak: Season the Wagyu beef steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Optionally, you can brush the steak with olive oil or clarified butter to promote browning.

    c.  Broil the Steak: Place the seasoned steak on a broiler pan or a wire rack set over a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Place the pan or baking sheet in the oven under the broiler. Cook the steak for about 3-4 minutes on
