Trying to help out the other mechanics and trying to be helpful, he finds himself helping Emma, who is a struggling single mom. The similarity between his ex-wife and Emma is too much, and he takes out his sexual frustration out on her for helping her get her car fixed. I got into the auto restoration business when I bought my first Mustang at a junkyard for a thousand dollars. It was in decent shape, but needed a restoration. I was eighteen and knew a few things from working in my older cousin’s body shop. It was so much work, but I was good with computers and bargaining that I got the parts cheap enough that it looked really good when I was done. It wasn't going to win in a show, but it looked really good for what I put into it.

I was never a fan of Mustangs and decided on getting an old Cadillac. I was cheap and I sold my Mustang wanting a new project. I was making enough money at the body shop to live on my own and restore the Cadillac. I spent so much time doing research on the car, finding how it was built and fixing the body rot. When I was done, it won first place in the local car show.

Rick happened to show up at the second car show and his Cadillac beat mine, but he worked out of a million dollar restoration shop. I was working in a driveway while having a full-time job doing normal body work and car repairs. He knew my situation and begged me to comework for him and promised to teach me how to build a world class show winning car.

It was eight great years working for Rick when I decided to open my own restoration shop. Things were going great, and I won a few awards plus I had my cars featured on television and on websites. I got married thinking this was going to be the person who Iwould spend my life with too. I took out a few loans to expand my shop when the market crashed. My house payments were too high and the buyers for a couple of my cars backed out. Some of my customers could not pay what they owed and I was stuck with their cars in my shop too.

Covid wiped my savings out and my house and shop were gone. Staying married to a man who lost everything was not what Mary wanted so she left me for some douche bag that had money and treated her like crap too. I wanted to go back to work for Rick, but his shop closed down when he passed away. It was sad, but Mr. Hargrove or Mike as he liked me to call him, saw one of my cars and knew my situation.

He said A man of my abilities should not go without a job. He bought five old Cadillacs that he wanted to have restored for himself and his family members. He gave me a handshake deal to pay for my time if I would do all of his cars for him.

I had no nest egg to start a business again and was renting an apartment since losing my house and wife in the divorce. I needed money to open a shop and then money for cars to restore. Then there was the problem of what cars to restore too. The market for collectible cars was down and it was taking a risk doing it right away. My divorce cost me a lot and I was struggling to get on me feet emotionally too. I felt like I wanted to be away from my home town too and Mike set me up with a place to stay as well.

Mike was an older man who retired but wanted to play around with cars to keep himself busy. He owned an auto repair place that was in business for over fifty years and was opened by his father. He had two sons who were not interested in being mechanics and the five people that worked there were relatives, but nobody seemed interested in being the boss. Mike and his shop were in a rural part of the state and was close to nothing and around nothing.

I was given a small trailer in the back that overlooked a junkyard Mike owned. He inherited it from his brother and was doing nothing with it. I wasn't used to living in a trailer, but it was a new trailer that had all of the amenities I would want. It was free for as long as I was working on his cars. I told him it would take me about four years to do all of the cars myself and with the custom things he wanted. If I had a crew of guys in a special shop, it would be a fraction of the time, but this was just me in a small space he had set up in his shop.

The pay was salary based and I could make my own hours, which was nice. It was a decent amount of money, but I could also do my own projects if I wanted too. I did promise him that I was not going to string him along and four years was plenty of time. He mentioned there was a bonus for finishing early and also asked if I could help out around the shop if things got busy. It was a deal and I moved into the trailer ready to start over.

It was five months since I began work at Mike’s Body Shop and it was relaxing having no real worries. I had an account that I used to buy
