Opening a private practice was something Dr. Samantha Harris wanted to do, but the cost always discouraged her from doing it. The price of leasing a building was enough to deplete her meager savings and then there was the cost of getting the equipment that would be needed. Staffing the one doctor practice would not be bad, but Samantha knew that it was years away before she could scrounge enough money while still paying off her student loans at the same time. She just turned twenty-eight and knew there was time before she should consider pushing for her own practice.

Samantha loved being a doctor and smiled when she thought about completing her lifelong passion. Even though she had to work in a practice that she didn't own, she knew she was still a doctor helping people. It was not the only practice in the town, but it was the largest one with five other doctors there. There was a level of autonomy that she enjoyed as it did feel like she was her own practice within a practice. The county was not large, and she figured she would move to a more populated one when she was ready to strike out on her own.

It was late and her mind was drifting to just getting home and cuddling up in bed with her cat and watching the Vampire Diaries. The dating scene was not kind to her as she hated the dating apps that were out there fearing that it would be a patient she would see later. The small-town vibe made her second guess just randomly dating guys on local sites too.

Deep down she knew that it was more than just the privacy thing, but the rejection that could happen with meeting a person. Not being pretty in school haunted her and even with her weight loss, she still had the sense she was ugly. She still had the big black rimmed glasses and gave up on thinking she could go without them. The only thing she knew was that she could shop in normal clothes stores wearing normal sizes now, but she still felt overweight.

Walking to her car she passed on eating fast food, thinking about her body if she would get fat again. She was in the normal weight range for her five-foot six height but the sense of gaining weight made her drive right by and skip out on eating any fast food. The school district would send players to her practice just because she still had connections with the school.

Samantha walked into room five and looked up from the chart to see a young man sitting on the exam table waiting for her. He put his phone down as she saw his striking blue eyes just connect with hers. He was the prototypical football player teenager she felt when she saw him. He was tall but not too tall. His shoulders bulged out his shirts and his dirty blond hair was stylishly done. His striking jawline and facial features were like a model looking at a camera.

In her heart she knew he was the guy she would have a crush on at school and look at him from afar knowing he was out of her league. The memories of the hot guys from her past came back to her right then and there as she looked at this young man thinking he had to be the school hunk.

She looked at the chart and saw that he was there for a physical to return to playing football. He just had his eighteenth birthday and was not considered pediatric anymore and was seeing her instead of one of the child doctors in the building. He smiled back and nodded. Yeah, Doc. I had dislocated my knee before the summer, and I missed the regular physicals.

Okay, sure. I am just going to check your breathing and then we can do the rest after that, Samantha responded thinking that a normal school physical required a hernia test, and she was going to have to check his genitals for that.

She still decided to make sure if he would be comfortable with Nancy in the room just to be safe.

Being calm about this as it was not a big concern, but she still felt like being cautious. I have to give you a hernia check. Would you like a nurse to come in when I do it?
