Welcome! I have been practicing yoga for many years. I've written books on general yoga, ten-minute yoga, yoga in bed, and yoga while traveling. To make life easier for people who depend on balance support, I have now created this book on "chair yoga" specifically for people who need to maintain a stable base while doing yoga.

 

I know that many people with balance issues have trouble getting down to the floor and then getting back up again. For this reason, I'm not including any moves in this book which require getting down onto the floor

 

If you need even further support, please do know that my Yoga in Bed book offers ideas if you need to stay fully on a flat surface (bed or floor). And if you want to venture into unsupported movements, I have two full books on general Yoga and on Ten-Minute Yoga.

I always considered supported yoga to simply be a normal part of general yoga. People doing general yoga often use walls, foam blocks, chairs, and other supports to ensure their safety.

    To make life easier for people who depend on balance support, I have now created this subset book on chair yoga specifically for people who need to maintain a stable base while doing yoga.

    If you need even further support, please do know that my Yoga in Bed book offers ideas if you need to stay fully on a flat surface (bed or floor). And if you want to venture into unsupported movements, I have two full books on general Yoga and on Ten-Minute Yoga.

    All of these books (in ebook format) should be free on all platforms. I strongly feel that yoga should be available to every person. Yoga is an important way to maintain health, reduce stress, improve sleep, and support a more even mood flow.

    If you have multiple of my books, you will find that some sections are consistent through them. I want to make sure my message about yoga doesn’t change each time I approach a different sub-topic.

    Other areas, of course, will be very specific to the topic at hand. This book on chair yoga will make sure that every activity I recommend is supported and designed with physical balance in mind.

For this reason, I’m not including any moves in this book which require getting down onto the floor. I would suggest, if you want to do prone types of motions, that you look into my bed yoga book. That will let you do those types of motions on a soft surface that is probably easier for you to get on and
