25 Years to Life - Jamal Roberson

    1

    My Worth

    Prosperity

    Eternally

    Seeking it faithfully

    Money can be punishing

But not when you’re on the other

    Side of the money tree

    Abundance

    Wealth

    Opportunity

    Never wanting to feel

    Poverty

    Anxiety rising

    Balance due climbing

    Past due timing

    To a dollar sign amount

    2

    Beginnings

    Poverty

    Abuse

    Neglect

    When people meet me

    See me

    Is that what I project?

    Do they think I’m dumb?

Or that I’m a crime suspect

    Failing to see that

    I have something to protect

    My family

    My bloodline

Is what I have to protect

    Bondage

    Chains

    Suffering

From the blood of my ancestors

    Is what I can’t forget

    I study

    I work

    And grow

    Until my life is over

    For them I am

    Forever in their
