Preface
I have been a Massage Therapist for twenty-one
years, and during my career, I became very curious about Infant Massage Therapy. Working in a day spa,
I often read magazines about Massage Therapy
during my breaks, and in the back of the magazines, I
would see advertisements for Continuing Education
courses. One of the courses that got my attention was
an ad for Infant Massage USA. I read the description,
and it sounded like it would be fascinating to learn and maybe become an Infant Massage Instructor! So,
I left my job and enrolled in the course.
In the class, there was a lot to learn about Infant Massage. We learned the history, the founder,
benefits, what oils parents should use, what doll to demonstrate to the parents, cues of engagement and
disengagement, babies with special needs, why
babies cry, Infant Massage techniques, types of

got to teach a group of parents how to massage their
babies with our trainer standing by. It was a lot of fun, and it was nice to see the parents bond with their babies.

Instructors. To do that, we had to teach Infant Massage to several parents with at least 6-8 babies, get parents' feedback on how well we did, write a report about our experiences, and how well babies responded to the infant massage.
Unfortunately, where I lived at the time was a rural area of Virginia, and there weren’t any parents with babies to practice teaching infant massage. However,
my husband had a job in Richmond and knew a co-worker who had a baby, and he told her what I was
