Shaman M’s Introduction on Gaining Strength

I N BOOK TWO of our series, Going Towards The Nature Is Going Towards The Health, we are introducing you to the energy of building strength. This strength not only comes in the physical form but also in the mental and emotional. These strengths all culminate with the Spiritual.

As a baby, when you progress in the early months of your life, you learn to push yourself up and raise your head. This is what you accomplished in book one. It gave you the insight into a new world, a new reality, one that knowledge could be gained through by just being curious about what you could do.

In this book, Gaining Strength, you will begin to further the body/mind connection as you learn to roll over. That is the second stage in the development of a newborn’s strength. If you view your progress in this way, you will indeed see the changes unfolding in a positive way for your life. You go at your own pace and learn according to the type of individual you are, and you feel good about it. You get to feel positive life energy in knowledge for the health of your body, your mind, and your emotions.

You will be able to start to implement the food, herbs, and yoga into your daily life according to your body and mind type. We will also take your deeper into understanding the three Doshas.

Again, I would like to state that no matter where you are in the progression of your health, the important energy to create is positive movement. If you are reading this you are progressing and success is the allowance of the positive flow. Stay in the moment of your thought and build on that.

I tell people who pick up this series open the book daily, if reading in succession is too overwhelming then open the book anywhere and read that page. It has a message for you. It is what your energy in the moment has called to and wants to connect with. How you perceive it and whatever you do with it, make it positive, fun, and light.

We all change every day. There is only one way to live every day and that is new, for your yesterday is a memory and your tomorrow waits for the energy you create in your today.

    Blessings,

    Shaman Melodie McBride

Here, we introduce body type management with natural herbs for those beginners who are interested in the ancient healing sciences in search of more details about the concepts which are useful per an individual’s body type.

In our first book, Going Towards The Nature Is Going Towards The Health, we introduced some important basics of Ayurveda and yoga. Part 1

    Chapter 1

    Introduction to Ayurveda

L ONG AGO IN India there were many sciences, most of them having a spiritual base. Among all the sciences, there was one science for health. There was a beautiful natural way of healing with life style managements and herbs. How to live, eat, exercise, talk, sleep, and think were the type of things of concern, along with the health and longevity of life, considered in that science. Hence, the science was considered as a science of life. The name of such a beautiful natural health science was, and is, Ayurveda.

    Definition of Ayurveda

The word Ayurveda is a combination of two words. Ayur +Veda, Ayur means life and Veda means knowledge. Another meaning of the word Veda means ancient spiritual scriptures written in the Sanskrit language. In the Sanskrit language it is written that Ayurveda means Ayushha Veda Iti Ayurveda. The translation is the science which is not only medicinal but also the science of life.

Ayurveda is the science of life. Ayurveda is also the science of body, mind, and spirit. It is a science based on the rules and regulations from nature itself.

The two main aims and objectives of Ayurveda:

    1)   To maintain health of a healthy person.

    2)   To overcome unhealthy conditions and diseases by a natural way of healing.

The most important goal of Ayurveda is that the "prevention is better than a cure."

    Ancient scriptures—Veda

    There are many Vedic sciences.

The important four main basic scriptures are:

    1)   Rigveda

    2)   Yajurveda

    3)   Atherv Veda

    4)   Sam Veda

Ayurveda, the science of life, is derived from the third scripture Atherv Veda.

There were two schools in Ayurveda; one was the school of physicians and the second of surgeons. Rishi Charak, was the main ancient sage who wrote a large scripture on medicinal science. The name of the book is, Charak Samhita.

Another ancient sage, Sushruta, who also was a surgeon wrote a book focusing more on surgical aspects. The name of the book is Sushrut Samhita.

Later on many other branches of the medicinal science were established for training of the Ayurveda students. They studied Ayurveda in eight different branches.

    Ashtang Ayurveda

In the Indian system of Vedic schools there were eight branches of Ayurveda. Ashta means eight and Ang means branches.

The Ayurveda Universities’ medicinal system was divided into following eight branches:

    1)   Internal Medicine (Kaya Chikitsa)

    2)   Pediatrics (Bal Chikitsa or Kaumar Bhrutya)

    3)   Astrology and Health or Demonology (Graha Chikitsa or Bhuta Vidya)

    4)   ENT and Ophthalmology (Urdhvanga Chikitsa or Shalakya Tantra)

    5)   Surgery (Shalya Tantra)

    6)   Toxicology (Danshtra Chikitsa or Agad Tantra)

    7)   Rejuvenation Therapy and Gereatric medicine (Rasayana)

    8)   Sexual Health and Aphrodisiac Therapy (Vajikaran)

    Ancient Scripts on Ayurveda

Many different books were written in the ancient language of Sanskrit on Ayurveda. Today, Ayurvedic doctors are studying all these books in various Ayurveda colleges.

Here is the list of some ancient scriptures of Ayurveda:

    •   Charak Samhita

    •   Sushrut Samhita

    •   Vagbhat Samhita.

    •   Ashtang Sangrah

    •   Sharangdhar Samhita

    •   Yog Ratnakar

    •   Madhav Nidanam

    •   Kasyap Sahita

In the present, there are translations available of the original scriptures from the Sanskrit language to English in addition to other Indian languages
