ou have probably heard the story of the frog in the boiling pot of water many times. But in case you haven’t, here it is: An unlucky frog falls into a pot of warm water. The pot is still on the stove with the burner on. At this point, anyone would expect the frog to leap out of the water and get as far away as it can from danger. But the frog does not.
The water temperature starts to rise. The frog still doesn’t budge. Instead, it manages to regulate its body temperature accordingly.
However, as the water in the pot approaches the boiling point, the frog is no longer able to keep up and regulate its body temperature. It attempts to jump out of the pot of water but is unable to do so since the water has already reached the boiling point.
Come on! Something has to give, right?
Of course, the frog dies.
It sounds cruel, but the frog dies. What happened? Do you blame the hot water for the frog’s death? What was responsible for the frog’s death? The reality is, the frog died a fool’s death. All along, it could have simply jumped out of that deathtrap before it got too hot. But it didn’t.
