About this ebook
What does God expect from us as a believer in Him? Was there a blueprint that He laid out for us to follow? The answer is yes. And not just with the Ten Commandments or in Jesus's teachings. God gives an illustration when He first laid out the expectations for His people's designated ruler in Deuteronomy 17. Following these directions would allow the king to rule with wisdom and with faith. But looking at this guide in the Old Testament gives us a set of advisements that we can follow. The Modern-Day King is a detailed comparison of God's instructions to Israel's kings and how they are also instructions to modern day believers

About the Author
What is a man of God? Middle English defines him as a clergyman, holy or devout person, a saint or prophet. As it is a title in this definition, it should be more of a status for all to strive for. As we live our lives, we want to be holy and pleasing to God. Though many of us will not be a saint or a prophet, we can be examples of who God is by being more Christ-like.
When I think of how we are charged to be men of God, I come across many references that we can find in the Bible. These references are found in both the Old and New Testament. They are passages that outline how to be a man with our actions and with our words.
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love. (1 Corinthians 16:13–14)
In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness. (Titus 2:7)
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. (Psalm 119:9–16)
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)
Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. (1 Timothy 5:8)
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. (1 Corinthians 13:11)
Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. (Ephesians 5:22–25)
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)
Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple Yes
or No.
Otherwise you will be condemned. (James 5:12)
Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will
