About this ebook
The church that is supposed to be following the Word of God has fallen into the trap of the devil to keep the commandments of men, traditions of men, and doctrines of demons. This writing will expose some of those lies and guide the reader into truth by the scriptures of the Living God and the commandments of God. Pray for God to open your heart, mind, soul, and spirit to Him, leading you into the truth of His word and obedience to Him, the Great I am.

Chapter 1
Abstain from the Appearance of Evil
1 Thessalonians 5:21–22 says, "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good, abstain from all appearance of evil." Is this something that the church is taking seriously and laboring to achieve today on a personal level as well as a corporate level? I would venture to say that the church is far from accomplishing this command. As a matter of fact, if we look at the church of today in the United States as a whole, the church is not much different than the carnal or unbelieving population in its views and the way in which the people of the church live. If we compare the habits, addictions, and tolerances of the people of the church in America, they seem to all be dictated by society, man's religion, or traditions and not of God. This is not what the Bible teaches us. Jesus of Nazareth, being the incarnate Word of God, did not teach His followers (the twelve disciples and anyone who would follow Him) to follow the teachings of the world, a religion, or traditions of man in this way. God the Father and Jesus, rather, tell men to keep his commandments and be obedient to them, teaching them to our children perpetually and continually; separating themselves from pagans, the world, and immorality; being a light in a dark world (Deut. 6:1–9). He has provided these laws as the Ten Commandments (the Moral Law), the Commandments for Worship (the Levitical Law), and civil commandments (how to live with others and the penalties for not treating others the way we would want to be treated) through the Word of God (the Bible). The Word is portrayed as God, the Son Incarnate (Jesus), in the first chapter of the Gospel of John, written by the Holy Spirit through man. Herein lies the greatest commandment of "Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, all your Soul and all your mind" (Deut. 6:5) and the second of the greatest commandments to "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Matt. 22:37–40). These two commandments cover the whole law of God. These two commandments do not negate the Ten Commandments, but by keeping these two commandments, we do in fact keep the Ten Commandments of God, and therefore, we are on our way to abstaining from all appearance of evil in our lives by laboring (purposefully deciding to live and choosing to adhere to) to keep these two commandments.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." Keep in mind that the Scripture that is referred to here is mainly the Old Testament. Although some of these letters that make up the New Testament may have been in circulation during the times of the apostles, they were not available to everyone and would not be available to everyone until years later. We today have a Bible (the Word of God) at our disposal that the people of that day didn't have; and of course, for us today, this passage of scripture includes the New Testament as well as the Old Testament. You cannot discount the Ten Commandments (that's right, there are ten commandments, not just nine), of the moral law of God was written in stone with His own finger and had them placed into the Arc of the Covenant, immortalizing them for all time. Jesus tell us this in Matthew 5:17–20,
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
This is one of the most important points Jesus of Nazareth makes to the people that are following Him. It's no coincidence that this teaching followed the teaching, or parable, about "salt and light" that is just previously to His Words about the law and the prophets in Matthew 5:13–16:
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
So I ask you, How can we the church (corporately or individually) do the same things as the world and accept the world unquestionably with all its doings that are contrary to the Word of God into our lives individually and corporately, allowing the world into the church and remain "salt and light? I would have to say that it is impossible. But that's exactly what the church has done. We have done individually and corporately exactly what God the Father; Jesus, the Son of God; and the Holy Spirit have warned us not to do, then we wonder why our nation, our churches, and our families are falling apart. We have forgotten the obedience that God requires to His commandments and teachings for His people. We have forgotten that there are repercussions for failing to do what God wants and commands us to do. That there are consequences for not following the commandments of God, and that there are rewards for those who trust in God and seek to do all that He requires in His commandments and His Word, the Bible. The Old Testament is full of these stories for our learning and correction so that we remain the
salt and light of the earth." A strong rebuke for keeping the traditions of men rather than the commands of God is found in Mark 7:6–9. The deception of people thinking themselves to be honoring God is only with their lips and not from their hearts found here as a rebuke as well as in Isaiah 29:13–14. Deuteronomy 6:17 and 24–25 says,
Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and His testimonies, and His statutes, which He hath commanded thee.
And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He hath Commanded us.
The New Testament tells us to do the same thing, but we have become dull of hearing and therefore doing, going our own way and falling for the deception of the devil, doing evil instead of good. An example of this is in Romans 3:31; 7:1–8:17, which reads, "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law." So are we establishing the law? And in chapter 7:1–8:17:
Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? For the woman which hath a husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to Him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law; for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is Holy, and the commandment Holy, and just, and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is
