About this ebook

S. T. Theophanie, by way of the scriptures quoted in The One-Flesh Covenant, brings to light, through the power of the Holy Spirit, truths that have been rejected by the body of Christ for generations, truths that are foundational and crucial to every life and marriage, and truths that are able to change the behavior of this generation and generations to come. She exposes the false doctrines that permeate the church today in the areas of marriage and divorce, and with correlating scriptures she correctly interprets scriptures that have been misinterpreted for years""scriptures that God has mercifully sent to heal the broken-hearted, comfort the afflicted, and set the captives free. The One-Flesh Covenant is a must-read for every member of the body of Christ as it will enable those who receive its truths to no longer portray Jesus as the God of grace without obedience to faith, the God of faith without works, the God of mercy without justice and the God of forgiveness without repentance and bearing one's cross. No longer will she turn to idols for instruction in righteousness""church leaders who, knowingly or unknowingly, subvert the scriptures to the destruction of millions of souls""but to the Word of God, Jesus Christ.

"S. T. Theophanie boldly presents a strong reminder to pastors and church members, alike, of the important scriptural teaching of the one-flesh covenant.

With heavily documented biblical references and direct quotations, she examines both Old and New Testament teaching on the law, grace, and obedience to faith. She challenges current interpretations of marriage, divorce, separation, and procreation.

Theophanie helps the readers to understand the importance of repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation. She offers consolation and admonitions that will help them to understand the consequences for ignoring these important truths.

Although direct in her approach, leaving the scriptures to speak for themselves as authoritative, she offers interpretations that conflict with contemporary practices within the church of today.

Worthy of further study, the research and thoroughness of the references will help the readers to rethink their own positions, counsel others biblically, and strengthen their Christian walk.

This is an important work in a day when many are looking for reformation within the church."

Dr. Malachi Martin, author and one of the dignitaries in the Catholic Church, wrote: Thanks for what you sent me. It is very important. I polycopied it and sent it to several professors of moral theology here and abroad.

Thank you for your inspired writing. It is a joy to read such a biblically-based study and to see what a high standard Jesus set! It is a tremendous book and reminds me of the Roman gold coin of Caesar Augustus that was recently found on the surface of the ground outside Galilee by a tourist. Minted 1950 years ago, with only one other coin like it in existence, there it was! But only one person ever found it. I think you’ve found another treasure.

Thank you for your well-written and documented book. I found your defining terms most helpful in the process of following your examination of the scriptures. I think it will help many to understand what God is doing or has done in their lives and why. May God bless your endeavors.

    Preface

Jesus said to His disciples, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known (Luke 12:1, 2).

The purpose of this book is to expose the false doctrines in the church relating to the subjects herein so that those enslaved by these doctrines may be freed from them and those not enslaved may be kept from them. It is to preach good tidings unto the meek…to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified (Isa. 61:1–3).

According to the teachings of Jesus, it is necessary to study the Old and the New Testament to bring forth the truths of God’s kingdom: Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old (Matt. 13:52).

The Old and New Testament scriptures in this book will be interwoven for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works (2 Tim. 3:16, 17). For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little (Isa. 28:10).

    Chapter 1

Law, Grace, and Obedience to Faith

Before embarking on the subjects of marriage and divorce, it is necessary, because of false doctrines within the church, to establish why Jesus came as regards the law. Why He said He came is as follows:

    xxxxx

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 5:17–20).

    xxxxx

The connotation of the word fulfil in the above scriptures is to enlarge, to magnify, to fill to the full. Thus, what Jesus is saying here is that He came to fill up the law with God’s intended meaning—to reveal what was required by God to satisfy the righteousness, or the spirit, of the law.

Examples of such requirements are found throughout the New Testament; however, to cite a few, refer to Matt. 5:22–48 wherein Jesus, magnifying the law, stated that not only must one not kill, one must not be angry with his brother without a cause; one must not call his brother a fool; if one has wronged his brother, he must make peace with him before bringing his gift to the altar; not only must one not commit adultery, he must not commit
