I have been writing since I was about three. As my mom drove around looking for a specific street, it dawned on me that I couldn't understand the squiggly things she was looking at and that really upset me! That night, I brought my little wooden puzzle map of the United States to my dad and asked him to teach me to read. The first word I learned to read was Mississippi! After that, I practiced every day and by Kindergarten, I was reading and writing at a 5th grade level; as well as writing my own short stories and poetry. Throughout my life, my love for literature has grown and become a huge part of who I am. I love the written word! I firmly believe that writing, if done well, has a beautiful way of painting a picture for the reader and opening a whole world of imagination and possibilities. I believe this so firmly that I hold a double Master’s degree in Education and English and have  taught many college-level English classes, helping students improve both their writing and storytelling skills. After being called to believe in and follow Jesus Christ, I began reading and studying the Bible on a daily basis and the Holy Spirit took over; inspiring me to write Biblical content that is based on research into the Word and how it applies to daily life. My goal is to explain and teach the Word in a way that makes it understandable and applicable to everyone, hopefully helping them to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. On my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking my dogs to run out their ridiculous amounts of energy at the beach, helping out in my church and community, and various types of home improvement, furniture restoration, and art.

Moments in the Word - Amber Bryan

    Dedication

This book is dedicated, first and foremost, to my Heavenly Father.  Without You calling me to believe in Your Son Jesus Christ I would be nothing and this book would not be possible.

To my husband Derick and my children - Thank you for your support and for always believing in my ideas!

To Pastor Jake Tucker and his wife Ms. Tracey - Thank you for your love, support, kind and encouraging words, prayers, and so much more. Ya'll are the true definition of followers of Christ and family!

To so many others - Thank you!

    Love you all!

    Preface

I have always loved to write. Writing, analyzing literature, and storytelling is as natural to me as breathing.

After I was called to Christ, I joined in on a social media challenge of posting one Bible verse per day. But as I read the Bible, it didn't seem like enough to just post a verse; there needed to be an explanation of the verse, something to help people understand. So I began analyzing what I was reading and, guided by the Holy Spirit, I was able to understand and apply the Bible to my life in many ways.

As you read through this small collection of my writing, I pray it brings you clarity about the Word of God. I also hope it blesses your life and brings you closer to Jesus.

²⁴ The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

²⁵ The Lord make His face shine upon thee,

    and be gracious unto thee:

²⁶ The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee,

    and give thee peace.

    Numbers 6:24-26 KJV

    A Prayer

Father God, thank you for your Son who suffered for me so that I am now able to form a relationship with you through Him. Thank you for the forgiveness of my sins. Father, I ask today that I be filled with the Holy Spirit, that I may live Christ-minded instead of world-minded. Guide my steps, my eyes, my thoughts, words, actions, and deeds. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, help me to follow your desire for my life. Keep both myself and my loved ones safe during this time, and help us to seek you first during the stress and the pain. Thank you, Father, for never leaving us alone. Thank you for our example of life through your Son. Thank you for redemption.

In Jesus Most Holy Name, Amen.

    Never Forget...

¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

² For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

⁴ That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

⁵ For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

⁶ For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

⁷ Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

⁸ So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

⁹ But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

¹⁰ And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

¹¹ But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

    Help understanding God’s Word

I, and many others, believe the King James Version (KJV) is the most accurately translated-to-English version of the Bible. In all of my writing, you will find the verses written in KJV. For some, especially those new to reading the Bible, this can make understanding a bit difficult. Here’s some info that can make it easier:

There are several words that might seem strange, usually ending with est or eth. Without giving you an exhaustive English lesson, the easiest way to understand the meaning of these words is to take off the est or eth. Below is an example of a few:

    Mayest or Mayeth = May

    Teachest or Teacheth = Teaches

    Carest or Careth = Cares

    Callest or Calleth = Calls

    Knowest or Knoweth = Knows

    Sendest or Sendeth = Sends

    Comest or Cometh = Comes

    Answerest or Answereth = Answers

    Doest or Doeth = Do

Thou = Means You when the person is the subject of the sentence.

Example: Thou are going? would mean You are going?

Thee = Means You when the person is the object of the sentence.

Example: I take thee to be my wife means I take you to be my wife.

Thy = Means Your (but is used before a consonant).

Example: Thy shoes are muddy means Your shoes are muddy.

Thine = Means Your (but is used before a vowel).

Example: Thine eyes are blue means Your eyes are blue.

Ye = Means You when a group of people are being addressed.

Example: Hear ye, Hear ye means Everyone listen, this is meant for all of you.

You might be asking, Why use the KJV version of the Bible if you basically have to learn to translate certain words to read it?

First, the Holy Spirit will guide your understanding as you read.

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

⁸ For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

    Matthew 7:7-8 KJV

Second, in any other version of the Bible it has been proven that words have been translated wrong and/or altogether excluded. This often changes the entire meaning of what was written, which can have devastating consequences to our understanding of the Word and relationship with Jesus. Adding and detracting from the Word of God has been specifically mentioned in Revelation 22:18-19:

¹⁸ For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

¹⁹ And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out
