Natural Health Warrior Devotionals - Tirzah Hawkins

    Serve

Then Samuel said to the people, Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. (21) And do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing. -1 Samuel 12:20-21

We’ve all sinned. We’ve all fallen short. That is not an excuse. That does not need to define us. If we use our wickedness as an excuse to give up, then we go after nothing.

The absence of light is darkness. The absence of God is nothing; it’s emptiness.

Let us put aside our fear. If we fear failure, we often attempt nothing. If we fear failing the Lord, we can wait for His guidance. No matter what, we need to serve Him.

What past mistakes have I allowed to define me? How does the Lord define me? If I lived as the Lord defines me, what would become of my fear?

    Pray for All

Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way. -1 Samuel 12:23

Have you ever stopped praying for someone out of spite or bitterness? According to this verse might that be a sin against the Lord?

The Lord doesn’t hold back His love for anyone even though He may hold back blessings.

We aren’t called to judge others; we are called to pray for them and bless them no matter what. We can teach and model in our lives the good and the right way; it is up to them whether they will follow it. No matter which path others choose, our responsibility remains constant: we need to pray for others.

When have I sinned against the Lord by ceasing to pray for someone? Will I now seek forgiveness? What will I choose to do going forward?

    Swept Away

Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. (25) But if you still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king. -1 Samuel 12:24-25

Who is responsible for the spiritual health of our nation and its leaders? We are. Every single one of us has an obligation to fear and serve the Lord with all our heart. How can I matter when I am just one person? you ask.

God uses the faithful, committed believer to influence others. If we begin to doubt or be swayed by the false messages of the world, we should consider the greatness of God and the things He has done for us. Through these memories, the Holy Spirit will reinforce God’s truth and strengthen our faith. This verse warns that nations can be swept away if each, individual person fails to remain a faithful servant of God.

The righteous have always been outnumbered in the earthly sense, but the Lord fights for them.

Look at your life and remind yourself of the great things He has already done for you. Comb the Scriptures to remind yourself of the great things He did in the past.

Remember, the Lord reigns over ALL.

What great things has the Lord done in my life and the lives of those around me? What will I begin to do today to support and strengthen the spiritual health of my nation?

    Do not Fear

And Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel
