    THE PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE: ITS TOPICS, DIRECTIONS AND ALTERNATIVES

    SCIENTIFIC-PHILOSOPHICAL TRADITION OF MODERNITY:

    SCIENCE = METHOD

    The modern tradition, when unraveling what properties of scientific activity made it properly scientific, agreed that it was above all the method. In other words, of all knowledge, only those that are the result of rigorous compliance with the steps of a previously established method are considered scientific.
    In addition, the modern tradition had idealized this method. They imagined much clearer rules than we actually find in concrete scientific practice.
    Another characteristic of modern thought is that they identified truth and method (that is to say: they believed that they were one and the same thing. Or at least that one could not aspire to one without the other).
