    Dedication

Self-help authors have inspired me to pursue the art of teaching through writing. Each author has a unique mind, heart, and voice. It takes many authors to touch the lives of many people.

I’m paying it forward in honor of the great authors who have been my support structure as I have learned how to view my life through different lenses.

My photographic memory often kicks in when I recall the quotes of my favorite authors. I can see the page, the passage, and my highlighting marks on the page. The value of new thoughts and ideas will last me an eternity, as I hope it will for my readers, as well.

    Author Notes

This book is written in a format that will make the information reusable and easily accessible. It could be beneficial to focus on disbanding one misery-making belief for an entire month before moving on to the next.

It takes thirty days for a new habit to transfer from the short-term memory to the long-term family.Breaking through a misery-making belief will take that kind of concentration and effort.

As you practice new ideas, breaking through one misery-making belief at a time, you will release yourself from the chains of self-sabotage.

    Introduction

Break the chains? And what does that mean? You might be asking this now.

Did you know that women who have experienced trauma from adverse life experiences function most of their lives in fight or flight mode?

What does this mean? They are continuously preparing for an emergency. What emergency, you may ask? The crises that have been setting off triggers in their minds daily as they try to cope in a world where everyone else appears normal.

Often, survivors of trauma create a set of false beliefs that they operate under, so they can survive. Little do they know that these beliefs create a continuous chain of adverse effects.

Ultimately, while attempting to protect themselves from any more harm, the traumatized are placing themselves in figurative chains of misery. Disbanding these chains of misery -one false belief at a time- frees women to find relief, pleasure, and joy again in their lives again.

No more watching the world pass by like a mirage. Those experiencing trauma can learn to change their lives by learning to change their minds-one misery-making belief at a time.
