My name is Catherine. I have been a Reiki practitioner since 2001 and became a Reiki Master in 2013. I am a qualified therapist in the areas of Biomagnetism and Bioenergy Therapy. What I write in these few pages reflects my own experiences, studies, and lessons learned. The university of life has brought me down and hurt me, but it has also taught me to attain the happiness that is my inherent right, as well as yours.

We all seek happiness. Many people have applied the famous Law of Attraction to achieve happiness and much more. One can read about this famous law on the Internet, in books, in classes - it is everywhere. But many people have told me that it doesn't work. In my own search for happiness, it did work for me. And how it worked for me and I studied to understand why it worked for me and not for others. That's why I was motivated and decided to write this little book, because I feel like I discovered the secret of 'The Secret' and I want to share it with you.
It is possible to read about the Law of Attraction on the Internet, in books, etc. Many people have told me that it doesn't work. In my own search for happiness, it did work for me. And since it worked for me, I studied to understand why.     Many years back I fell into a depression that lasted about three years. It was when I pulled myself out of that dark place that I discovered ‘The Law of Attraction’. It changed my life forever.  This experience together with the disappointment of many people who had told me that the Law of Attraction did not work for them, was my motivation to write this little book.  I discovered the secret of ‘The Secret’ and want to share it with you.

    Preface

    We are all going through some unsure times; feeling all sorts of different things that may have us feeling scared, hopeless, drained or lost. The first thing I want you to know is that all of your feelings are valid, I will say it again – your feelings are VALID.  Sometimes we just need a reminder that it is okay not to be okay.  If you’re reading this book, I’m guessing you don’t want to feel this way forever, and you certainly don’t have to.

    There is so much going on that it might feel that you can’t cope; that instead of moving forward you’re stuck or even going backwards.  And you might even ask yourself these questions:  Am I worthy of having desires even when so many are suffering? Is it right to want more or want to expand from my corner of the world? The answer: Yes! A GIGANTIC YES!

    To attract the reality you want, you must heal yourself and for this it is an indispensable condition, to move away from fear.  To sit in fear attracts more fear.  To remain in fear is to hide.  To sit in love and joy and gratitude is to support and connect and create changes for you and others. When you choose love in a time of fear and uncertainty you are opening a door to learning and opportunity for inward growth and development. When you heal yourself, you heal the world, you heal your ancestors and you heal your future bloodline.

    Take this time in your life to set a new foundation for yourself - a new beginning and way of thinking for not only your next chapter, but humanity’s as well.

    Now, I want to talk to you a bit about Toxic Positivity. Although you have all heard about the Law of Attraction that expresses that positivity is essential as an attitude, it should not be confused with toxic positivity.

    Toxic Positivity, what is it?

    According to what I have learned from expert psychologists on the subject, toxic positivity is that attitude that implies that we are not allowed to feel negative when bad things happen, that we should be happy no matter what. Believe me, I have tried.  It is simply unnatural.  Human beings are not meant to be happy all of the time, much less slap on a happy face when going through a personal crisis, or in this case a global crisis.

    People have countless emotions, happy, sad, joy, grief... No one should just switch off their feelings. You need to feel them, to cope with them.  Old theories taught us to hide our emotions and repress our expressions; emotional people were described as frivolous. Even in these modern times emotions are not allowed in royal courts; a monarch cannot cry or express grief or anger. Fortunately for the rest of us, today’s science and experience recognizes that emotionality is part of human intelligence, and conducting it is part of our challenge.

    It is common to hear and say things like, It’ll be okay. Stay positive. Think positive. I have done this myself. I thought I was being helpful.  But this artificial positivism has taught me that denying reality confuses us and causes disappointment, so it is incredibly important to allow ourselves and others, to feel each and every emotion as they arise.

    Here’s a personal example: In 1995, I lost a 10-year-old son.

    At his funeral, many, many people coming up to embrace me saying, I’m sorry for your loss, but at least you have 4 other children.  What!? I want all 5 of my children! Many similar things were said to me, to my husband and to my children. I felt like lashing out at them all, but didn’t. Though they were well-meaning, their
