Bad Fitness Advice - Dr. Chloe Wisdom

    1) Forward

If only I knew then what I know now. It would have saved me countless hours of cardio and weightlifting, gotten me more sleep and a larger calorie intake, saved me from unnecessary stress, and allowed me to set realistic expectations. Alas, you don’t know what you don’t know and so it took me years of learning the hard way, tens of thousands of dollars, several coaches, and hitting metabolic rock bottom to figure out how to get bikini competitor fit. This is a story about my journey and all the ass-backward advice I received from people in the oversaturated and under educated fitness industry and the incompetent side of bodybuilding trainers and coaches.

Sure, I looked athletic, but I didn’t have the horseshoe triceps and chiseled abs this (then) 30-year-old international fitness model did. Why did she look like more of a badass, military female than I did? Woman or not, when I envisioned strength and grit, I pictured someone as strong and hard bodied as her, and that is the image I wanted people to see when they looked at me. I wanted to be the female version of GI Joe! And no, I didn’t want to look like GI Jane, she was tiny and didn’t look like she could scale a mountain carrying a 40lb rucksack or knock out 10 pull-ups upon entering and exiting a DFAC. I wanted to look strong and femininely jacked! So, then and there I dove into everything I could find about lifting heavy, counting calories, bodybuilding, and getting downright lean and mean. I ended up buying almost every single one of Pauline Nordin’s Fighter Diet plans, and despite being downrange, I followed her workouts and meal plans as closely as I could and achieved some
