#1 We all want to live a disease-free life, but most of us have no idea that a disease-free life is possible. We assume that the patient is well until his or her condition deteriorates into symptoms that the doctor recognizes as a diagnosable disease.
#2 I was given an intradermal test, which is a much more provocative and sensitive test than the typical scratch tests. The reaction was catastrophic, and my health deteriorated rapidly. I was unable to perform any meaningful activity, and my life was over.
#3 I had so many different symptoms during those ten months that I was sent to numerous different doctors, who were unable to figure out what was wrong with me. In the end, the answers were simple.
#4 I was sick for 10 months, and when I was finally able to get help, it was from a chain of events that nearly killed me. My brother gave me a book that proved instrumental in saving my life: Norman Cousins’s bestseller, Anatomy of an Illness.

#1
We all want to live a disease-free life, but most of us have no idea that a disease-free life is possible. We assume that the patient is well until his or her condition deteriorates into symptoms that the doctor recognizes as a diagnosable disease.
#2
I was given an intradermal test, which is a much more provocative and sensitive test than the typical scratch tests. The reaction was catastrophic, and my health deteriorated rapidly. I was unable to perform any meaningful activity, and my life was over.
#3
I had so many different symptoms during those ten months that I was sent to numerous different doctors, who were unable to figure out what was wrong with me. In the end, the answers were simple.
#4
I was sick for 10 months, and when I was finally able to get help, it was from a chain of events that nearly killed me. My brother gave me a book that proved instrumental in saving my life: Norman Cousins’s bestseller, Anatomy of an Illness.
#5
I was still far from well, though. I had difficulty performing the simplest tasks, such as dressing or tying my shoelaces. I had no energy and became fatigued from the slightest exertion. My hands and feet were numb, and I had difficulty walking and moving slowly.
#6
Those who have not experienced chemical sensitivity cannot understand how just a whiff of certain chemicals can create total havoc in a matter of seconds. With chemical sensitivity, the nervous system develops a memory of past reactions.
#7
I began to research my health condition, and found that someone else had been able to heal himself of this horrendous condition through persistence and willingness to try new things. His example convinced me that I would be able to help myself understand the biochemistry of my illness and apply sound scientific principles to solve it.
#8
I learned the hard way how suffering can come when health is failing, and when you try remedies that do more harm than good. I resigned from all my business and community activities and devoted myself to teaching others how to be healthy.
Insights from Chapter 2
#1
The potential for human health and longevity is far greater than we are currently achieving. With just a little knowledge and effort, we can choose health.
#2
The belief that poor health is a matter of bad luck is false. Poor health is a choice. We make ourselves sick by making bad choices, and we get healthy and stay healthy by making good choices.
#3
Health is not just the absence of disease, but the presence of optimal health, where your cells are functioning as well as
