Chapter 1: 5 Daily Habits To Help You Stay Fit

As we grow older, we all get to that one day where we step on a scale and start freaking out.  We seem not to have noticed the gradual weight gain. We’re constantly weak and gasping for air after a short walk. How did we fool ourselves to think we were going to stay a size six forever? Now we’re wearing two-three-four sizes bigger and feeling physically defeated. Once we realize our self-deception, panic then kicks in. We try it all. Dieting, exercising, detoxing, all the A-Z steps to losing weight and getting more fit. After a couple of runs, mental and physical fatigue kicks in as well. Comfort takes its course, and we give in. We just give up trying to live a healthy life.

It is one thing to get fit, but a totally different avenue trying to stay fit.  So often we get on that journey, 24/7 on the treadmill, and we do see the gains. But we then get too comfortable and all the effort goes to waste. Staying in shape is the hardest part. Staying fit is a daily habit. Living healthy is a lifestyle. Therefore, today we’ll look at 5 daily habits we can pick up to help us stay fit.

    Establish a routine

Routines practiced every day will eventually turn into habits. Habits take more time to stick to our subconscious. Some researchers say it takes 21 days to make a habit. The more we incorporate healthy habits in our daily routines, the more the habit becomes more and more a primary character. Our daily routines influence our energy levels, emotional well-being, and productivity. For example, if we’re not consistent with our sleeping and waking up schedules, our bodies will lack rest. Lack of rest will spike our stress levels and weaken our core. We lose focus, become less alert, and our bodies can just give up on us.  Incorporating good healthy habits into a daily routine and sticking to them will help us stay fit.

    Eat a healthy breakfast

All dietitians have stressed out enough times the importance of eating breakfast. Breakfast is described as the most important meal of the day. Most people don’t have a morning routine so they never find the time to sit for a good healthy breakfast before going on with their day. But, by so doing, we miss out on all the benefits of having the most important meal of the day. A good healthy breakfast will equip our bodies with all the rich nutrients it needs to function effectively. Some studies have found that eating breakfast boosts our immune and also reduces the risk for heart disease.  People who skip breakfast tend to have higher cholesterol levels. High cholesterol can cause brain blockage, increases the risk of a stroke, gallstones, chest pains, etc. Such a vicious thing to think of, but can be avoided.

    Be Pro-active outside the gym

To stay fit, it is a good habit to stay active throughout the day. We can start making healthy changes by Increasing our cardiovascular activities daily. Choosing to take a flight of stairs over an elevator. Or
