Dedication
To the One and Only Most High, who gave me this wonderful chance, I love you beyond words.
To my parents, I am blessed to have you.
To the rest of my family and friends and all the other amazing people in my life, the lighters of my candle. I love you all.
As a young South African, I acknowledge the struggles of the past and stand here at present knowing that many sacrificed and lost their lives in the fight for freedom, in the struggle for peace. I am pleased to share a poem dedicated to all our struggle heroes, those who held so tightly to their mission. To our former and late president, Mr Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.
Born To Triumph
Child of Great Spirit and unparalleled power.
He who was carried in the womb of mother Africa.
He who was moulded from her rich soils and fed by her hands.
He who drank from her rich bosom.
He who was overflowing with her wealthy treasures.
He who trembles not in the pits of misfortune.
He who has grandiose blood flowing in his veins.
He who awakened a nation from the bondage of fear
With much strength and courage you stood undefeated.
In the face of adversity and death you kept strong.
You were raised to conquer
To overthrow the injustice of a crippling system.
You fed a nation from your unwavering will
You sailed it to shore with your relentless vision.
You heeded a great call
And stood high for a just belief.
You took a fallen land into your heart.
And laid a foundation for a crying country with your hands.
You made a vow to protect its life.
You gave birth to a new day, a new way.
You quietened the cries of many bleeding children.
Today, you stand proud as a great leader.
A conqueror.
A visionary.
Generations to come will know your name
They will know the names of your fellow fighters.
They will praise your efforts.
You raised our flag high.
You and many heroes stand honoured today and forever.
You have raised the flag high.
You are saluted.
Introduction
I am a word library. I use words to reveal and to share my thoughts, my feelings and my experiences. Words reveal the beauty that lies in me, in my heart and in my thoughts.
My experiences bring flavour into my life; they evoke my senses, emotions, imagination and creativity. They are the recipe of my writings and words are the ingredients of my work; they bring what lives in my mind to life. I cannot begin to explain the feeling I carry when I write. A world without creativity and words I cannot imagine; it would be a world of dull days and nights, a world without enthusiasm, without ambition, without glimmer, without care, a world without inspiration.
Words are the banks of my thoughts and the collectors of my emotion. They give substance to my dreams, giving them colour and body. They are a power source that paves my path and my understanding. Not a day passes without my heart delivering a word that evokes a strong thought in my mind. As I ponder, I imagine how I could structure that thought into something worth sharing, something that could inspire someone and make them smile. At times, I can’t put ink to paper; I can’t structure my words and my heart beats a little slower for that day, but with each day, I embrace that which I can do.
Words amuse my imagination and trigger a flow of creativity. They make my fingers itch with a craving to type and my heart whispers softly;
