About this ebook
Maria Magalhaes
Maria Magalhaes
Maria Magalhaes lives in the West Midlands region of England and works as a care coordinator for an autism specialist service. Maria was born in Portugal, in a small town up north, located in a valley surrounded by mountains. At twenty years old, she decided to embark on an exciting new adventure and moved to England, where she has resided ever since. Maria’s educational background might not include creative-writing qualifications; however, writing has always been present throughout her life. She successfully wrote and directed three theatre screenplays while at college in Portugal, and she attended a short creative-writing and poetry course when she moved to England. Only in recent years has Maria realised that the written word has always been present by her side, waiting for her to acknowledge and cherish it. Now, it’s one of her passions! As a result of this, Maria has compiled a collection of poems based on life events, views, and opinions. Road to Self-Discovery: Liberation is Maria’s first published book.

I
dedicate this book to
my wonderful family
and my dearest friends,
the ones who live near me
and the ones who live overseas;
I’m blessed to have you in my life
and proud to be part of yours.
I’m privileged to know you
and to always have you by my side,
day and night, no matter what time!
This journey wouldn’t be as wonderful and smooth
without having you to help me see it through!

A picture may paint a thousand words, but a poem reveals what truly lies underneath each picture!

Preface
If you would like to briefly indulge yourself and get inspired by one’s life accounts and perceptions, Road to Self-Discovery: Liberation is just what you need. It takes you through the remarkable and complex journey of discovering who you are, what you expect of yourself, and what you are searching for.
Each story or life account is presented in the form of a poem, so you don’t need to go through many pages to find out what the story is all about. This book short and sweet, sometimes a bit sour, but mostly inspiring. Don’t be misled by its size; this book might seem thin, but it’s packed with action and motivation! As the saying goes, Good things come in small packages.
My writing style might not follow the standard rules and layouts you are used to seeing and reading in poetry, but trust me, you are in for a treat with
